The Oncidium Section DISTICHA

A major Section of the one species! crista-gaili. This Section was established by Garay and Stacy on the single species. The Sectional characteristics are stated to be the more or less fleshy sepals of these flowers. The petals and lip, excluding the callosities, are thin and more or less translucent. The pseudobulbs are small, with a terminal, aborted appendage in lieu of the developed leaf. The lateral sheaths are all leaf bearing, arrange din two rows on oppisite sides. The leaves are flat or folded together, and have a smooth edge. Thsk appears to be a quite widespread species, coming from Mexico through Central America to Colombia, Equador and Peru.
