The Oncidium Species and their Sections
Part 2 - M to Z
The following is a list of the species in the oncidium genus.
The information comes from Garay and Stacy's important work (Garay,
L.A. and Stacy, J.E., 1974 'Synopsis of The Genus Oncidium' Bradea 1:40, 25 September, 1974) where they completed a study of the genus. Their work, published in the relatively
unknown periodical Bradea is not readily available to growers and those interested in this genus. The
following list is extracted with full acknlwledgemlent of the source of their species list together with the designated
sections. Some more recent work on individual sections has been completed by other workers, and hopefully this
work will continue, which will supplement this information. The data is, however,
useful in grouping the plants into workable sections. Most of the plants in each sectiona have similar natural
habitats and consequently similar cultural requirements. The pages on this site for each section attempt to identilfy
the appropriate culture to assist those cultivating the plants under diverse conditions.
