PRIMARY MISSION OBJECTIVES

The primary mission objectives were as follows:

• Perform survey, and sampling of materials  in the region of the Fra Mauro Formation.

• Deploy and activate an Apollo Lunar Surface  Experiments Package (ALSEP).

• Develop man's capability to work in the lunar environment.

• Obtain photographs of candidate exploration  sites.
