PERSONAL BACKGROUND
My name is Fay Roberts. I am the director of Access Typographical Services. At the moment, any work you require will be done by me. However, I will be looking to expand in the future, taking on casual typists and designers. If you’re interested in getting involved with this side of the business, make sure to keep reading the Future Developments page regularly. I am currently funded by the Prince’s Trust Cymru Business Initiative.
Who am I and why am I good at this job?
I am a 25-year-old graduate from Cardiff, currently working as a temporary secretary while running Access Typographical Services. My first degree was in joint honours physiology and psychology (2:1), and I have a post-graduate diploma in Computing. Both courses were taken at Cardiff University.
After my first degree I worked as a temporary secretary for one year 1996-97 to earn money for the Computing course.
During this time and while I was studying the post-graduate diploma, I worked as freelance typist/designer, almost exclusively for university students 1996-1999, typing up and laying out essays, projects, dissertations, CVs, etc. and providing electronic versions of technical diagrams.
After the diploma I worked as a university secretary for 18 months 1998-2000 in the Civil Engineering Division of Cardiff University. I left to set up Access Typographical Services.
In addition to this, I have extensive experience of designing and producing successful publicity material:
