My name is Fay Roberts. I am the director of Access Typographical Services. At the moment, any work you require will be done by me. However, I will be looking to expand in the future, taking on casual typists and designers. I am a 25-year-old graduate from Cardiff, currently working as a temporary secretary while running Access Typographical Services. My first degree was in joint honours physiology and psychology (2:1), and I have a post-graduate diploma in Computing. Both courses were taken at Cardiff University.

After my first degree I worked as a temporary secretary for one year 1996-97 to earn money for the Computing course.

During this time and while I was studying the post-graduate diploma, I worked as freelance typist/designer, almost exclusively for university students 1996-1999, typing up and laying out essays, projects, dissertations, CVs, etc. and providing electronic versions of technical diagrams.

After the diploma I worked as a university secretary for 18 months 1998-2000 in the Civil Engineering Division of Cardiff University. I left to set up Access Typographical Services.

In addition to this, I have extensive experience of designing and producing successful publicity material:

• for student societies, including the one I currently help to run (The UWC* A Cappella Music Society) and, in the past, publicity campaigns for the UWC* LGB Society, among others. These materials included publicity leaflets and posters, information booklets and brochures.
• for the Environmental Water Management Research Centre in the Engineering Department. These materials included the Centre’s publicity brochures, material for symposia and other events that we organised; I also helped to put together the Group’s website back in Spring 2000.

• Personal service – I will discuss your needs face-to-face and advise on the best approach if necessary.
• Speed and accuracy – I have a typing speed of 65-70 wpm plus very high standards of English language and in-depth knowledge of the computer packages I use.
• Accessibility – I live and work in Roath, close to Cardiff city centre and public transport.
• Flexibility – I am available outside normal office hours and am able to consult with you either on my own premises or somewhere more convenient for you.
• Expertise – for student clients, I have experience both as an academic secretary and as a postgraduate student at Cardiff University, so have good knowledge of university regulations concerning academic documents and the preferred style of presentation.
