Everyone has ancestors. To discover your own is a fascinating and enjoyable task, but many people lack the time and knowledge to do it for themselves. This is where our research service comes in. HISTORY DETECTIVES offers you an expert personal service to trace your ancestors and build a fascinating picture of your family history. We have successfully completed a considerable number of research commissions for our clients since we were founded in 1995 and invite you to let us trace your ancestors too.
An expert and professional service
Our ancestors were often surprisingly mobile and tracking them down can entail much detailed work in different records. Our research network covers the whole of England and Wales and Scotland. We know where the records are and how to use them to the best advantage to trace back the family line of your choice.
A fascinating present for yourself and your family
There are a great many records which can be consulted to assist the search for your ancestors and to add interesting detail to your family history. There is usually some element of truth in the traditions and colourful stories passed down through the family, but the information which can come to light during research may still come as a surprise. An ancestry research report also makes a unique birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift.
Convenient monthly terms
Research usually requires four to six months to reach completion. We offer you the opportunity to spread the cost over six months by taking advantage of our monthly installment scheme as shown on the research application form.
What you will receive
When the work has been completed, we will draw everything together into a bound report for you. This will provide details of all records searched and information found, and will include all documents obtained. The attractive binder keeps the report and documents secure, and extra copies can be purchased as required.
Getting started
To commission research, simply complete and return the checklist and research application form.
If you already have detailed information about your ancestry, we shall be pleased to receive it; otherwise, a single firm name, date and place of birth, marriage or death is usually sufficient for research to begin.
