Component

Problem:
Machine the ends of the axle to 32.5mm radius @ `A'
Drill and bore the King pin holes to Ø25mm @ `B'
Drill and tap axle mounting holes to M16 @ `C'
Face mill faces @'D'
Drill locking pin hole Ø12 @ `E'
Previous cycle time: 9.5 hours involving multiple fixtures across 5 machines.
Total per 7 hour effective shift = 0.75 articles

Solution:
#1 HAAS VF7 vertical machining centre with an HRT310 rotary table.
#1 Brew-Eng  ARTB 310 braked `A' frame.
#2 Face plate fixtures to suspend axle beam.
Quantity per cycle: 1 article
Cycle time: 65 minutes.
Total per 7 hour effective shift = 6.46 articles.

HAAS VF7  machining pocket.  Note: 2 bedplates with both the 4th axis and the 'A' frame positioned over the end of the machine table.

The times quoted for the HAAS machining have been improved by using  carbide tipped tooling and `U' drills where applicable.
