New Frontier Investment Club

Introductions

Thank you for stopping by to look at us. Lets go back to the beginning. I want to tell you a story !

The club was formed in April 1997 after I (Dave) read about the group of police officers who had a

share club which had performed extremely well. Rather naively I thought anyone could do it. That

was our first mistake ! The new members had little stockmarket experience so we struggled from

the outset. We purchased mainly penny shares hoping for the big killing which has never

happened quite the opposit in fact. It seems that we put the kiss of death on most things we do.

We are learning now though and our latest aquisitions all seem to perform quite well. We

had our second AGM in April, we had a weekend in Blackpool this year, with wives and kids, paid

for purely from our own pockets. The original concept was that the AGM would be funded from the

club. Hmmm, maybe next year ! We hold a varied portfolio as you will see later, which at the

moment is currently in profit, now that is not nearly as bad as a couple of Clubs which

have folded due to high losses.I will introduce all the members as and when a photograph can

be obtained. That may be difficult with our cash only members, but keep an eye out for them.

Here is a list of Officers and members:-

Chairman

James Archer

Secretary

Dave Chilvers

Treasurer

James Woodhead

Members
Jason Argylle, John Argylle, Ron Pritchard, Mike Robinson, Jim Kelly,

Cliffe Claughton, Michael Hector, Stuart Sagar, Martin Greenbank and Russell Holiday.

We meet monthly, usually the third Monday at Johns public house, The Greyhound in Tong Village, which is on

the Leeds/Bradford border. Meetings are normally well attended and after a couple of thirst-quenchers quite

lively. Our investment strategy seems to change from month to month, depending on how the portfolio is

performing. We are currently looking to recruit up to 5 new members, ideally from the Leeds/Bradford area

but further afield providing communication is kept up. We like all members to partake in the selection

and research of potential purchases. If interested please get in touch with Dave by e-mail or phone.

Monthly Competitions.

The importance of entering these competitions in the "Express", "Mail" and "Mirror" is highlighted

by our fantastic win with the Express this month. You only need to take

the time and trouble to enter these competitions and the benefits are there for all

to see. Admittedly it has taken us 3 years to have a touch

but at least the stamps have been paid for !!

So come on all you clubs out there, get entering now.

1999 Update

Update December 1999. Reflections of the previous year. 1999 proved to be a difficult time for us

due to some mediocre share selections and a slight failure to react to market pointers. We are

always optimistic that even though share prices are plummeting they are going to recover. NOT !!

We have watched in amazement as some of our early purchases have gone into freefall, never to

recover. This is a costly way to learn. But learn we have, after a fashion. Instead of being reckless

and allowing freefall we now seem to be scared to allow even a slight reduction in price before we

sell. It is not quite panic but we have never been in the fortunate position of purchasing shares which

actually increase in price so now we sell if we are happy with the profits at that time. Now you must

understand that the word PROFIT has never really entered into our vocabulary because there never

were any !! Now we find ourselves wallowing in the fact that 2 recent purchases have both

performed extremely well and faired even better after we sold them. The 2 stocks in question

are Forward Technology and Amstrad. Forward Tech was bought at 18p and sold at 31p. Nice tidy

profit ? Yes of course, but the shares are now valued at 49p !! Similarly Amstrad bought at 102p

and sold at 193p. Again nice profit but the shares reached 260p after we sold. OK we should be

happy with our lot, but the club would have really shown some profits if we hadn't been so excited at being in front.

Lets hope the new Millenium will bring us more successes.
