To assist in compiling
a wish list for all the local parishes ( to include requirements such as a
village shop ) and present a suitable case to funding bodies to implement
these lists.
The Single Regeneration
Budget funding is being applied for by various Borough Organisations, we need
to set up a proposal that could be interlocked with existing plans to bring
some of this extra funding to our specific area.
The sale of the Allerdale
South End Offices in Wigton is imminent and we believe that this site would
be an ideal "hub" for co-ordinating the North Allerdale Area ( much
as the old Wigton Rural District Council ). It is important that we fight
to retain this site and implement a plan to later add further sites in other
towns or parishes.
Funding, whilst not imperative,
should be sought from Neighbourhood forums so that we have a ready pool of
money to meet expenses.
Establish the group as
a prime co-ordinator of action teams and funding campaigns.
Seek a positive input,
with any funding body, in all matters concerning the area's regeneration.
To formulate a plan to
run the South End Site as a town, borough, county, tourist and heritage centre
with facilities for any local groups to meet.
Campaign for a network
of similar heritage/visitor centres at appropriate locations in the area to
enhance and attract tourists, industry and sustainable jobs.
With industry leaders
from our area, set up forums to advocate and promote the area as a leisure/industrial
base.
Promote an increase in
construction and house building in the area by positive approaches to site
owners, construction companies, North West Water and Environment Agency.
Collate information on
what sites and objects should be preserved for future generations.
Establish a network of
heritage/tourist or visitor centres and village shops to illustrate the industrial,
scientific and natural inheritance that we have.
Create our own transport
blueprint to improve the infrastructure of the area.
Help ( in any way ) to
re-establish significant sites ( e.g.. Blennerhasset Mill ).
