Christopher Reeve was born on September 25, 1952 in New York City, the son of Franklin D'Olier Reeve (a novelist and professor of creative writing), and Barbara Johnson (a newspaper reporter). Reeve grew up in Princeton, New Jersey with his mother and step-father and in 1974, graduated with a B.A. from Cornell University. He later attended the Juilliard School in New York City where he roomed with Robin Williams. In 1977, Reeve was chosen from 200 hopefuls to star in Superman and became instantly famous. Reeve married singer/actress Dana Morosini in 1992 and they have a son, William.
The actor also has two children from another relationship, Matthew and Alexandra.
