Alien Vs Predator

From: Capcom
Year: 1994
Format: Arcade

The battle against Aliens in various different places
Comments:
A 'Final Fight' style beat-em-up. The horrible Aliens have crashed on Earth and it seems likely that they will take over the planet. A band of humans have been fighting them off but most of their troops have been killed and it looks as if all were in vain. Then the Predators arrive. They see the Aliens as fair game so they agree to help the humans battle them. This is where the game starts. You have the choice of four characters; Predator Hunter, Predator Warrior, and the two humans, Lt Linn Kurosawa and Major D. Schaefer. Each one of the four has the same basic controls. They can fire a small gun with one button, but the gun is limited in that it will overheat after a small period and will have to cool down. Button two does the usual punching combo and normal attacks and button three is jump. There are loads of different moves available to each character as well as their button 1+2 attack that will kill everything on the screen but also loose you energy. There are also lots of weapons to pick up and use, each character has his/her own selection. Alien Vs Predator is a pretty good game. The action is non-stop and very involving and it is all very plot driven. The only real problem is that maybe it's a little too long.
Other versions of Alien Vs Predator:

Year: 1993?

Comments: A gory 'Doom' style first-person-shooter with you playing either the Alien, Predator or space marine. At the time it was highly regarded as the best game on the Jaguar (although this is not really saying much).

Alien shooting minus the Predator
Comments:
A top-down shooter based around the Aliens graphic novels. You play one of five marines who, while on their way home, respond to a distress signal coming from a Freighter ship called 'Thanatos'. You can guess who's hitched a ride!

Year: Planned 2002/Cancelled
Format: Playstation 2
A strategic action game. Planned even before the Playstation 2 console had been finished. It missed release date after release date (originally being slated for November 2002) it was finally cancelled early 2003 by EA after it failed their quality control. If rubbish like Fellowship of the Ring can pass then Aliens Colonial Marines must have been truly dire!
