Bruce Lee (or is it Jason Scott-Lee?) beats up some nasty characters

Comments:

A one-on-one beat-em-up based on the Bruce Lee biopic in turn based, ever so loosely on the kung-fu star's life. You play Bruce beating up key characters from his life, climaxing in a confrontation with the mysterious ghostly samurai. There is a meter that grows with every successful blow but is shortened by blows you receive. This is your Chi and at certain points you can use this to change your fighting style. The graphics are good and the characters are well animated. The Bruce Lee sprite looks like Jason Scott-Lee and the war cries are effective. Sticks very close to the film with the exception of one or two additional fights put in to lengthen it. A good one-on-one fighting game.

Other versions of Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story:

Format: Super Nintendo

From: Virgin

Year: 1994

Comments: Same as the Megadrive/Genesis version. Just as enjoyable.

Format: Atari Jaguar

From: Virgin

Year: 1993

Comments: Despite the Jaguar supposedly being vastly more powerful than the SNES and Megadrive (it was 64-bit as apposed to 16) this version is actually less advanced than the other two. The cut scenes have been removed and the graphics, sound etc are identical to the 16-bit versions. Still good fun.

Format: Sega Master System

From: Virgin

Year: 1993

Comments: Different version to the others. A scrolling platform beat-em-up based loosely on the film. Each level is divided into three, long, stages. The first level takes place on the boat taking Bruce to the USA. But unlike in the film this boat is enormous and filled with nasty thugs who you must beat up. The last stage ends with a giant boss enemy based on the chain wielding sailors from the other games. The sprites are small and the moves a bit limited and tricky to pull off. The gameplay is very dull, walk along-punch-walk along-punch etc.
