What the hell's going on here?
Comments:
This game is a, now legendary, example of what the majority of movie licenses are; fast produced crap. The film was the biggest phenomenon to hit the US in many years so who ever was lucky enough to grab the video game's rights would be buying a license to print money. Atari jumped at the chance. It's 2600 console had been the market leader for years but now with the release of the rival Vectrex and Collecovision consoles their little machine was beginning to loose favor. It was of big press interest when Atari got the rights for a massive $25 million dollars. This would be the game that would win them back their reputation. In actual fact it was the last nail in the 2600's coffin. The game was rushed through production in a mere 6 weeks. As a result the game was so bad that few cartridges were actually sold and instead spent their days collecting dust in the bargain bins. Legend has it that Atari buried the five million unsold games in the new Mexico desert. Oh well at least Spielberg made a packet.
