Alan Grant enters Jurassic Park (left) and Grant getting close to a Raptor (right)
Comments:
A top-down 'Mercs' style shooting game. Alan Grant must escape Jurassic Park by killing all the nasty dinosaurs he comes across, with a variety of weapons. Colourful graphics and good animation make this one good but it can get a bit repetitive.
Other versions of Jurassic Park:

Comments: Same as the SNES version.
Format: NES

Comments: A similar game to the Super Nintendo version. The difference here being that you have to collect, or destroy, dinosaur eggs to reveal key cards that you need to progress. Jolly music and nice colourful graphics combine with simple gameplay to make this one pretty good fun.

Title: Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues
From: Ocean
Year: 1994
Comments: Ocean knew they could make more money out of the 'Jurassic Park' name so they made they're own video game sequel. The story concerns a new company who want the Dinosaurs for their own ends and send in their own gang of scientists to get Jurassic Park operating again. You play one of these men and you're given a choice of missions to take, each vagley based on the film. The game itself is a side-scrolling platform game with you fighting off all kinds of dinosaurs with a whole load of different guns. The intro to the game is very impressive as it is all animated and uses speech throughout. The sound is also presented in Dolby Surround making for great atmospherics. Not a bad game at all. Nothing to do with the Gameboy version.

Title: Jurassic Park 2: The Chaos Continues
From: Ocean
Year: 1993
Comments: Based on the first film but a sequel to the other Gameboy game. A side scrolling platformer. You control Alan Grant (as always) and you have to collect all the key cards hidden around the levels and then get to the exit without getting killed. Good fun on long journeys.
Format: Sega Megadrive/Genesis
From: Sega
Year: 1993
Comments: This is one movie game that split opinions down the middle. I thought it was quite good if a little easy and a bit rushed. You can choose to play as either Alan Grant or a Raptor which puts different spins on the same levels. Good animations but lacking in depth.

Title: Jurassic Park: Rampage Edition
From: Sega
Year: 1993?
Comments: Supposed to be an improved version of the original Sega game but I actually found this one worse. There is very little music and it looks and sounds nasty and adds little if nothing to the first game.
Format: Sega Master System
From: Sega
Year: 1993
Comments: An 8-bit action game. You choose which area of Jurassic Park you want to enter. At the start of each of these stages is a driving section where you move a sight around, shooting the dinosaurs and protecting the car. After that comes the platform shooting section. This is actually quite a good game but it gets a bit repetitive.
Format: Mega/Sega CD

Year: 1993

Comments: A first person point-and-click adventure game. Supposed to be a video game sequel to the movie. You play a scientist who returns to the Island after the others escape. Your mission is to collect one egg from each of the dinosaur species. There are information points where you can access video footage of a real Paleontologist so there are some educational qualities too. Got the best reviews of all the Sega Jurassic Park games.

Title: Jurassic Park: Trespassers

Year: 1997

Comments: A first-person shooter. I've been told, by reliable sources, that this is no good.
Format: Arcade
From: Sega
Year: 1993
Comments: Set a month after the movie this game has you and an optional friend zipping around Jurassic Park in a jeep blasting everything in sight on your way to the visitors centre and safety. Uses the same old fashioned flat sprites and scaling technology for the graphics and cabinet mounted guns as Alien 3 The Gun . No reloading, no gun overheating just hold down the trigger, move the sight around and kill. The constant, no brain, blasting coupled with the often dull looking surroundings means the game soon gets tiresome. Not bad but not great, you're probably better off with the Lost World.

What's
the twist? You control dinosaurs and not humans.
