A platform shooting bit (left) and a 'virtual reality' bit (right)
Comments:
You run around a small platform-littered area shooting things. The things that you shoot drop discs. You collect the discs and these fill the bar at the bottom of the screen. Once this is full you can enter the 'vitual reality portal'. This leads to a 3D sequence where you have to steer yourself through holes and gaps. If you make it through this it's back to the platforming. Strangely enjoyable for a while but gets repetitive. Reasonable graphics and sound.Other versions of The Lawnmower Man:
Format: Nintendo Gameboy
From: Sales Curve
Year: 1993
Comments: Same as the Super Nintendo version in miniture.
Format: Sega Megadrive/Genesis
From: Sales Curve
Year: 1994
Comments: Pretty much the same as the Super Nes version. The differences are that you do the V.R. bits first and then the platforming and you get to choose the character you play as. The platform levels are set in the same places but are designed differently apart from that the gameplay is the same.
Format: Mega/Sega CD

Year: 1994
Comments: Different from the other versions. It appears to be entirely in the V.R. world which is made of polygons rather than flat sprites. More when I get it.
