Nightbreed

From: Ocean
Year: 1990
Format: Spectrum 48k

Under attack from the Children Of The Free
Comments:
With a plot concerning an ancient race of mutant people, a mass murdering doctor and a neo-Nazi organization run by the chief of police you wouldn't think that this film was a prime candidate for a kids game but that never stopped them before. Based on the directorial debut of horror writer Clive Barker this is one of those unusual breed of game- the puzzle beat-em-up. The game's areas are huge and being that they are presented in flick screen it is quite easy to get lost in them. The idea is that you have to collect keys and open doors found all around the labyrinth of the underground cities and other mammoth locations. Another slightly bigger problem is the constant loading. You finish one area then you load the next, sometimes you need to go back to a previous which means rewinding the tape back to a certain point and playing. It can all get a little too much. Overall not bad but a bit hard and way too much loading.
