O'Neil in action...

Comments:

A platform, puzzle game. You play O'Neil as he tries to free the Nagadan people and escape through the Star Gate. You meet characters around the levels who tell you what you need to do next, which keeps the plot going. The graphics are good and the main sprite is agile and well animated. You can climb up ledges and ropes as well as tightrope walk and climb along ceilings. The music is good too and there are passwords so you can continue from where you left off. Not bad.

Other versions of Star Gate:

Format: Sega Megadrive/Genesis

From: Acclaim

Year: 1994

Comment: Same version as the SNES game. The graphics are identical but the sound and music are slightly lower quality due to the Megadrive's lesser power.

Format: Sega Game Gear

Year: 1994

Comments: Some sort of weird 3D Tetris style game. The tiles drop slowly into the pit and can be flipped to reveal a different symbol. There is 'Skill Mode' and a one or two player 'Battle Mode'. Well animated but completely incomprehensible without the instructions!

Format: Nintendo Gameboy

Comments: Oh no, not again! The same weird 3D puzzle game as the Game Gear version but minus the colour. Good music but still as strange as ever!
