Suburban Commando

From: Alternative Software
Year: 1993
Format: Amiga
Comments:
You get the privilege of playing as Hulk Hogan himself in this four stage action game. The first two levels take place quite early on in the film's plot. The first is a standard shoot-em-up section with you chasing after the Suitor's spaceship while shooting down rather dull looking enemies. The next stage, as with the rest of the game, is a platform game taking place inside the Suitor's ship with Hulk Hogan punching and kicking gun toting baddies. After that comes stages in the city and an unfinished sky scraper followed by three boss battles. The graphics in the platform stages are quite good. The cartoony main character looks like Hulk and he is well animated. The overall tone is light especially with the ice cream, sweets and fruit power-ups as well as the usual platform hazards like swinging balls and spikes. The music's not bad, good use of digitized audio samples but otherwise it's rather forgettable. The game is pretty tough so it's lucky you get passwords between levels. All in all not bad but a rather run of the mill opening stage.
