Total Recall

From: Acclaim
Year: 1990
Format: NES

Some strange goings on on Mars
Comments:
What the hell is going on here then? This one is bizarre. You are Arnie in matching green jumper and trousers running left to right in a street. But be careful if you walk past a dark alley you become captured in a sewer and attacked by bearded midgets! Weird.
Other versions of Total Recall:
Format: Amstrad CPC
From: Ocean
Year: 1991
Comments: According to the instructions the first level takes place on Earth where you control Quaid as he travels from one side of town to the other collecting the brief case, passport, tickets to Mars, a disguise and the homing device remover. What you actually get is a platforming section with Arnie jumping over fire dodging laser traps, pressing switches and riding lifts to higher platforms all inside a silver and black area. You'll never see the other levels which involve driving a Johnny Cab, more platforming, then more driving finally followed by yet more platforms, because the game is so hard that you'll never finish the first level. The graphics are alright the sound is sparseand there is no in-game music. It's hard to believe that this was held in such high esteem on it's original release!
