1. How can I learn to write HTML?

3. How do I link to another page in my site?
To create a link to another page type in the code:

4. How can I have sound on my page?
You must first determine which browser your site is aimed at. This is because MSIE and Navigator have different ways of embedding sound files. Navigator uses the <EMBED> tag, whilst MSIE uses the <BGSOUND> tag.
Lets say the file was song.mid, to use the EMBED tag would be: <EMBED SRC=" ">.
To use the BGSOUND tag is similar: <BGSOUND SRC=" ">
You can put both tags on the page and most browsers will read one or the other.

5. Can I password protect my site?
Password protected sites are not allowed at FortuneCity.

6. My links don't work. Why?
FortuneCity is case sensitive and generally requires files to end in ".html". So what does that mean to you? That means that if your link goes to "MyNewPage.html" and your file/page is called "mynewpage.html" it won't get there. Don't be mislead if such a link appears to work fine on your computer - it won't when it's uploaded to FortuneCity. The best practice is to use lower case names for all files so you don't get confused.
The other thing that will cause trouble is using illegal characters in your file names. Try using only alphanumeric characters (a-z & 0-9), underscore "_", full stops ".", and dash "-".
Things that will work particularly badly are: spaces " ", ampersands "&",&;&;&;,&;&;,&;&;&;{}[]&;,&;/\&;,&;:;&;,:,,,>

7. Why don't my graphics show up?
A common source of missing graphic problems is the file name itself: remember - file names on FortuneCity are case-sensitive.
