Gathering shadows
Nightmares shadow
my days
Warding off
euphoric sleep,
Obdurately piercing
my fortress of relative peace
As the poignant
misery of nightfall descends
Dropping a nebulous
essence along its path,
It wills the light
to end
The wind whispers unspoken thoughts
Deluged in foolish
childhood dreams,
The knowing voice
continues to taunt
I cower beneath a
shroud of grey
Shivering in
misery,
As lust for life
continues to fray
As the probing
voice mercifully fades
Looming above,
The black fingers
of night stealthily invade
Yielding to the
sickening blackness
I've come to the
end of daylight,
And finally face the doorway of darkness
