Walking along, singing to herself quietly, she noticed the old man
walking up beside her, as if to pass. She smiled hello and kept
walking.  Nice day isn't it young lady?, the old man said, 
Smiling again, Sharon replied, Yes and its a Friday too, making it 
that much nicer. As they walked along, they struck up a conversation.
Sharon felt it was alright as she had seen the old man around the 
school before. Do you like flowers young lady?

Why yes I do!  My mother does also.  We have quite a few growing
around our house", said Sharon. 

Well I have here a bean, that when planted grows the most beautiful
of all flowers. Its a tall plant with lush leaves and a beautiful fragrance. 
The flowers themselves are large and last a long time. Here, because
you have been so kind to an old man like me, I am going to give you 
this bean. Plant it and enjoy it. So saying he handed Sharon the bean. 
As she looked down at it, she realized her Mom had always told her 
not to accept things from people she didn't know. But she had seen him
before. That was the same as knowing him wasn't it? She looked up to 
thank him and he was gone.

Shaking her head, she wondered where he had gone to in such a hurry. 
Hurrying home, she arrived breathless, and showed her mother what 
the old man had given her. Seeing that it was just a bean, her mother
wasn't angry. No harm had been done, had it? Sharon and her mother
went outside and picked a nice place in the garden for the bean. 
They planted it and watered it, then went inside for dinner.  Finally it 
was time for bed. Saying goodnight, after getting permission from her 
mother to visit Sam in the morning, Sharon went to bed.
