Marybelle Doc and The Magic Coffee Cup
			     Chapter 1
			  Reason's Aim
			   [by Dr.Who3]

			  Marybelle opened her eyes
			and stared at the clock.
			The glowing numbers proclaimed
it to be 1 AM ! She knew she
should be fast asleep but she just
			couldn't. So much was happening
in her life and it all seemed to be
			happening so fast.
Her boyfriend of over a year
had asked her to marry him.
			She just couldn't understand
how he could love her so
			intensely or how she could
			feel so strongly for him.
			  Why?!? There must be
			reasons! There must be
something to explain why and how,
so she could feel safe, knowing
			her life was based on
			the comforting safety of reason.
			   Since she couldn't sleep she
decided to put on her thick warm
pink robe and go downstairs to the
'puter and see if there was anyone
			on the chat line.
			   Arriving downstairs she sat down
in front of the 'puter in the
			little storage room that she
had converted into a 'puter room.
Tiredly she clicked all the clicks
needed to get her to a chat room.
Chat seemed pretty dead that night.
When she scanned the list of available
rooms they nearly all had 0 people listed.
Then just as she was about to give up
and return to bed she saw 1 person in a
computer chat room called "Cat chat".
Cat chat? she thought. What's a kitty
room doing in the computer section?
Curious, she entered the chat room.
There was only one person there, a
man named "Doc". She clicked on
his profile to read what he had written
there about himself. It said he liked to
write poetry and collect coffee cups
			with Christmas pictures on them,
one of which is magic, and that his
little relatives thought he might be
			"THE" Santa.
She asked him why his little
			relatives thought he might be
			"THE" Santa? he replied that
He had a big tummy and often wore
red suspenders over a green T-shirt
[kind of Christmas colors] and kept
the presents in a closet in a large
plastic trash bag at Christmas time.
He also had found a red Santa hat
on sale at a store and had placed
it in the closet near the bag of presents
to keep them guessing. Of course,
			he always sidestepped the question
of whether he was or wasn't Santa
which only served to further convince
			them.
And he collected the Christmas coffee
			cups too. That reminded Marybelle
about the "magic coffee cup" mentioned
in Doc's profile. So she asked him
			about that.
Doc admitted that he had a magic
coffee cup that he used to take
friends on magic coffee cup rides
but he explained that he only used it
rarely for very special friends or when
			there was a special reason.
Try as she might, Marybelle could
not get him to explain more about the
coffee cup thing and figuring it was
just another part of the Santa joke he
played on his little relatives she let it
drop and went on just chatting with
			him.
He seemed to be a nice warm
person, a good listener, and soon
			Marybelle found herself telling him
all about her boyfriend and how she
			couldn't sleep because she just
couldn't make sense of her life.
			   Suddenly there was a sparkling
in the air beside her and slowly
a figure appeared. It was a man
			in red suspenders, green T-shirt,
			bluejeans, and carrying a coffee
			cup!
"Now I know I've fallen asleep
at the keyboard again" she thought.
"No sense in being afraid of
			a dream though".
Marybelle asked if Doc had come
to take her on a magic coffee cup trip
to show her how to reason out her
life? He replied that he would indeed
show her reason but that it would not
			be what she expected.
She said she was ready and stood
up waiting to see what would happen
			next in her dream.

Doc waved the magic coffee cup
			transporting them both to
a magical field filled with flowers,
			mostly blue and purple flowers.
			  The fragrance effected them
almost like a glass of wine,
			relaxing yet not befuddling.
In the center of the field
was a blue statue standing tall,
			overlooking the field.
			  The flowers were nearly
waist high so even the statue
			was covered to the knees.
A ribbon was tied to the statue
			and stretching out away
in a line to where they
			could see a rabbit head
			bobbing up and down,
			barely visible above the
			flowers for an instant
			each time he hopped.
			  As they walked closer
			they saw that the rabbit
			was hopping around the
			statue in a circle while
			holding on to the ribbon.
			  Doc and his friend looked
first at each other then at the
			rabbit. Marybelle asked
			"Mr. rabbit, Why are you
			hopping 'round and 'round
			this statue while holding this
			end of the ribbon?"
			  The rabbit answered,
			his voice a bit breathless
from trying to hop and talk
"I am dancing with my love
			of course!"
			   Marybelle was shocked
			"but she's a statue not a rabbit!"
"She is only a statue on the
			outside. . .which is
all you can see. . . .but on the
inside. . . somewhere in her heart
she is a rabbit. I can see her
			and, loving her, I dance."
			  Marybelle looked at Doc
being very concerned for the rabbit
"Do you suppose he's mad? " she
			whispered. But the rabbit,
having big ears to listen with
			overheard her whispered question.
" Silly, all in love are a little mad.
'Tis a simple wisdom, often overlooked."
			 Watching the rabbit continuing to
hop minute after minute was a
bit hard on them but he was so
determined to dance with his love.
Finally doc heard a sound behind
him and turned to see a
			neatly dressed man.
He was wearing a white suit,
			with a black arm band
			and carrying a huge, long
			slender gun with something
			engraved upon the barrel.
			  He walked through the flowers
			with a businesslike stride.
			As he approached he saluted
			smartly
			"Hi there! Major Reason Able
			reporting. I'm here to
put an end to this madness."
			   "Ohhhh? And how will you
			do that?" Doc asked.
			  "With this, my trusty weapon!"
			answered Major Reason.
He handed the weapon to Doc
and his friend so each in turn
			could examine its fine workmanship.
			  On the barrel was written,
			"Logic".
			    "Hmmmmm", said Doc,
"And what do you plan to
shoot with your logic, Major Reason?"
"Why the rabbits love of course!",
			was the answer.
Hmmm, but won't that kill the rabbit
too since logic must shoot through
him to kill his love? asked Doc.
			  "Well", said the major,"Reason and
Logic can never abide love and so we
are doing the little rabbit a favor by
putting him out of his misery.
With that he suddenly heaved the
			weapon to his shoulder and
			took aim preparing to fire.
Just as he fired Doc shoved him
			roughly, spoiling his aim.
			  The little rabbit, being startled
			by the sound stopped hopping
			and looked around.
Seeing the Major and his gun
the little rabbit ran right at the statue
and with a desperate leap, jumped
up. . .up. . up right into
one of the eyes of the statue
			disappearing from sight!
			   Falling to the ground,
			Major reason said calmly,
			"this only delays things
a bit you know. We will
			get him at the last."
And with that, Major Reason and Logic
disappeared with a puff of smoke.
Doc waved his magic coffee cup
and taking Marybelle by the hand they too
jumped through the eye of the statue.
When they arrived they were in another
field of flowers identical to the first,
			complete with another statue.
			 There was the rabbit hopping
			around and around the statue
			and holding the ribbon.
			   Marybelle turned to Doc,
			her eyes filled with concern,
"Do you think they will ever get him?"
Doc looked sadly at his friend,
"I don't know. Some love is strong
enough that even when shot by
			Reason and Logic it survives
but that is a rare occurrence."
"I try to spoil his aim every
			little chance I get."
			With that Doc waved
			his magic coffee cup ,
			transporting them back
			to their own world.
			   "I must go now friend
as I have other chances to
spoil Reasons aim. Bye for now."
With a wave of his cup he was gone.

			   Back in her 'puter room,
			She looked around.
			"Wow! What a dream that
			was!" she thought.
			Then she looked on the
			printer and saw a
			transcript of the adventure
			had been printed out!
Laying on the stack of pages
			was a single blue flower.
