MOVIE REVIEW
The 13th Warrior
[review written by Hermia001]
The 13th Warrior, Starring Antonio Banderas,
Diane Venora and Omar Sharif,
was produced by Michael Crichton and John McTierman
If you liked Braveheart with Mel Gibson, you will like this.
This movie is set in approximately 14th century Europe
in a time when superstition and religion walked hand in hand.
Ahmed (played by Antonio Banderas) is banished from his
country to be an ambassador in northern territories.
While there, he meets with a band of Northmen
and is selected to join their crusade against a much
feared enemy. The mere mention of whose name brings
fear to the hearts of many.
Thirteen warriors are selected to battle the creatures,
whose dead are never found and who are said to be not
human and only come with the mist. But the creatures
are not the only foe that must be dealt with.
First they must prove themselves to the leader
of the village they are sent to defend.
Then, there is the mysterious "glow worm"
that comes down from the mountains to terrorize
the small villages.
Action packed and full of suspense and mystery,
the 13th Warrior is a fascinating step back in time
but definitely not for the squeamish.
Enjoy!
There are a lot of good classics to be seen
so I am not going to limit this to "New" movies.
