This
is Green Day's most recent album, whic I say recent it was released in
early '98. I first realised it was released whne I saw Billy Joe on Top
of the Pops with his acoustic guitar doing 'Good Riddance (Time of Your
life)' and soon after I bought the album.
I already owned the album Dookie, so I was expecting more of the same.
But Nimrod shows how much they have come on from their 3-chord strumming,
their is even some ska in this album, with 'King for a Day' which is about
a transvestite starting out. This album is heavier than their previous
ones and the variation in the songs is noticable, each song doesn't blend
into the other like they used. With 'Platypus (I Hate You)' you have explosive
punk, and the opener 'Nice Guys Finish Last' is also great.
They've turned into more of a rock'n'roll band and less of a punk band,
if you haven't heard Green Day start with this album and wait for the next
one, whenever it comes out.
