Nojahoda
Nojohoda Released 1st February '99,
This is the 2nd single to be released by this band, on first look at the cover you'd
wonder what illegal substances they've been on. And if you even bothered to put it in the cd player you'd be a little confused at what type of music they are trying to play, some sort of electro punk with a bit of tribal grunting thrown in for good measure, but for a band with the motto 'Freedom to Freak' you should expect this.
The band themselves, made up of Milo , older brother Leo, Oliver and Robbie first appeared on TV on the channel 5 show, 'Not Melinda's Night In', to promote their new single, on guitars and vocals was Milo sporting a cowboys outfit, Leo was the freak in this little show, being made up as one of those wrestlers with shiny cloaks, dodgy masks and vest, Robbie the Bassist looked a little out of place in his leather'n'chains style outfit, and Oliver the Drummer sulked because they didn't have a good costume for him.
If you'd like to hear something a little different from the norm, then this band can produce
it, although they do tend to break out into kazoo solo during fast punk-style songs, like
'Pinata' their previous single.
The single is available in cd and 12" vinyl, with the track listing, Nojahoda, Nojahoda (Jabba The Cut Mix) and Moments with Wu, which is a prank call to the Wu Tang Clan's chambers, could have had some more original b-sides but all in all, I'd say if you can get this single for £2 then buy it, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
Nojahoda are currently supporting Silverchair in a one-off gig in London, and their album
'Jahoda's Witness' already recorded, is due to be released in early '99.
