SPECTRUM
It was always a bit of a mystery why the Spectrum was quite as popular, I mean it was a good little computer but with the Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64 around offering similar gameplay and superior graphics, for me it always seemed the weakest of the three...
... but for some stange reason it was probably had a larger fan base than any of it's competitors, it had the same huge selection of games, offered a light gun compatible range which were all available on both cassette and 3inch floppy. The only thing that let it down (for me anyway) were the graphics, in particular the 'colour blinds' whereby the colour of the background would interfere with (change colour of) the main character...
For example when playing Dizzy, who, as you know is a white egg and you walk in front of a red tree, Dizzy will turn red also, that aside the Spectrum is an important part of gaming history.
