WEDGE

Two years ago in a factory, building failure a young man rose from the ashes of the noise of authority and formed a vision that has lasted, glowing beneath the surface to this day. On the 23rd August Wedge will rise for the first time at The Tunbridge Wells Forum. In this following article, Gareth Harbord writes the prophecy of risen never been. Enjoy.

Book1 Visions:

Noise builds like some kind of good. Lead singer, Tom, somehow manages to dance in time to the feedback, emanating from lead guitarist Paul AKA 'Messiah of Noise'. Sci-fi undertones are eaten up in the intro, for a few seconds its like I actually am Star Wars.

As the atmosphere collides with the bad drug sodden faces of the band, the intro subdues before crashing back with deafening squeals from Paul, whilst the rest of the four join in the cacophony.

Sonic Youth beating up Mogwai whilst lying in a flotation tank is the nearest thing to a description of the avant-garde noise offrerings that are light-sabering off the walls. Anything more would be like kicking yourself in the head with a shovel.

One of the songs consists of the only written part being the drums, the rest is improvised guitar noise. Much of this being reluctantly donated by a combination of smashing guitars and the heads of 'happy moshers', to whom the band seem to have taken a paticular disliking.

This will be Wedge's first gig. It will not be their last.
