BIOGRAPHY
Hello
and thanks for stopping by! My name is Kenny Toomey. I live in
Chattanooga Tennsessee and have lived there for most of my life.
I have been singing since the age of 5 and have had the extreme
pleasure to work with some talented musicians all of my life. I
have been in numerous bands and have recieved recognition locally
for my vocal ability and stage performances. Not only do I pay
tribute to Elvis, who was a childhood hero of mine, but I have
also been the front man for many local bands. I have sung
everything from Gospel and Rap to Country and Metal. I am very
interested in starting a tribute artist career however. I just
think it would be a total blast. I was the lead singer for a rock
band called Hurricane Jane for four years. We played mostly
alternative music and wrote some songs but nothing ever came of
it. Other bands I have been in include: Smoking Gun, Hanging
Louies, Rushing Wind, J.U. ICE, and Chain Of Souls. I don't think
I am Elvis... I'm just a guy that can sound similar to him.
Sounding like Elvis comes easy to me. One reason I think is
because I have the natural accent he had. The way he pronounced
his words and phrasing is very similar to the way I prounounce
the words... due mostly to my southern accent. I also have a
natural 4 octave range baritone voice like Elvis had. Locally...
I was nominated as Best Front Man and Best Male Singer in a
magazine with Hurricane Jane and Chain Of Souls... the bands were
also nominated for Best Rock Cover Band. As for looking like
Elvis... it is all costume. The hair the sideburns... its all an
illusion which I leave on the stage. Its just a costume. On stage
I am just Kenny... dressed as Elvis and singing like Elvis... off
stage... I'm just plain old Kenny.
My love of Elvis stems from my mother who was an avid Elvis fan. At the age of 9 I entered a talent show at my Elementary school. And that's where the Elvis thing started. As I grew older... I practiced my singing and took some vocal lessons. I joined many bands as I mentioned and only sung like Elvis at clubs during Karaokee which allways drew attention. All the guys in the bands would tell me, "man, you should do an Elvis act. You sound so much like him". So... thats what I am trying to do now. I have performed my Elvis act at many local venues. One, most notably, was the Governor's Lounge where.... just the week I performed... a semi famous singer by the name of Garth Brooks perfromed.
I am willing to perform with a live band or I can also use backing tracks. It doesnt matter to me. I will do fund raisers if distance permits.
