(Like Ink To Paper, Towards The Stars)

Nuno?s got a thing about mental disorders right now, it seems - from the title Schizophonic, to that nasty frontal lobotomy on the cover, and even in some of those lyrics. So is it just his body that?s a map of Arizona, or is Nuno trying to tell us something about his... (gasp!) mind? Explore with me now, through the lyrics of Schizo, the dark mental recesses of a maniac - a lunatic, frothing at the mouth... indeed, a raving MADMAN! His name is Nuno, and actually, I just want to talk about some of his cool lyrics - but, um... wasn't that a descriptive intro?

 

1.  "My skull is an egg/Like a flash in the pan/A heavenly meal/For the animal angels" (Gravity)
If his skull is an egg, as in an eggshell, then it must be very fragile - and under that shell must be the runny, gooey yolk he would refer to as his brain. And if his brain isn?t runny, well, the alternative is hard-boiled - and in any case, a brain which is either runny or hard-boiled is probably not very functional . However, because it can be CRACKED open (there goes that word again) and cooked in a pan, then it must be runny (ie, you can?t crack open a hard-boiled egg and cook it again - or if you did, it probably wouldn?t taste too good). "But!" I hear you say, "If his brain gets fried and it makes a heavenly meal, then... his brain must?ve been of good substance!". Maybe - but that wouldn?t make sense. So, my verdict is that to the animal angels (whoever they are), Nuno?s brain is JUNK FOOD - ie, no fibre.

 
2.  "Got the right house/But the wrong address/I should have my head examined" (Crave)
Self-explanatory really. Especially when you take into account the video, which although I haven?t seen it myself, is apparently about Nuno going to therapy. The ?right house? but ?wrong address? is a reference to how his mind is behaving - weird and full of contradictions.

 
3.  "Can?t sleep the mind is itchin?/Bed bugs on the brain" (Fine By Me)
Another reference to minds and brains, in yet another cracked context: Brain activity depriving a person of sleep, an essential part of human life. Okay, so it?s actually about his loving relationship with Suze and how he?s addicted to her - but the brain reference is still there! (Seriously though, it?s a great song, with great lyrics - they emphasise how loving and devoted Nuno is to his wife).

 
4.  "A white chocolate wedding in a leggo church" (What You Want)
Only a strange mind could think of this... Hello??? Are you still listening to me...???
