Cover Me Blind

This is the second attempt at an Extreme tribute album,
and this time it looks as though it will see the light of day.

By Alison Cummings

As mentioned on the Cover Me Blind website, this version of the Extreme tribute album is being put together through the internet, as a side project of the Rise N Shine Mailing List.  Formerly envisioned over a year ago by Nick Jasken and Aaron Shaw, the project never got off the ground - and in 1998, the idea was resurrected by John Pinna.

Progress right now is that several tracks have been received from around the globe, with others still "on the way". Also, there is currently a vote on which design should be used as the cover art. The diverse artwork submissions are the work of Extreme fans in different parts of the world, giving Cover Me Blind a truly international and fan-based flavour.

With the original tribute idea beginning somewhere in the USA and UK, and the album's "second wind" beginning in New York, it was already a transatlantic effort. Then came my involvement, down in here New Zealand, including the input of Wellingtonian Richard Anderson... since then, submissions of music and art have come from countries as diverse as Brazil, Germany and Australia - as well as several locations in England and America.

Cover Me Blind is a non-profit compilation, purely to express our thanks for the music Extreme gave us - so the price will only cover the cost of the CD and postage. The members of Extreme will get a copy each of the album. The final tracklisting is also to be voted on by fans - and as with the artwork, this will take place on the Cover Me Blind website.
