109 on the 24th of September whilst with No 92 Squadron and was wounded again in the legs. His Spitfire
I (X4427) was damaged in the combat but repaired and used again. |

I (P9452 'DW-2'). He was K.I.A. when shot down by a Bf
109 from Gruppe II of JG 51 flown by Haupman H.Tietzen North of
Calias at 10:00hrs. |

he escaped injury. R.Little was shot down and killed

from No 1 (R.C.A.F.) Squadron was shot down during an attack on He
111's over Tunbridge on the 11th of September1940 at 16:15hrs,
he baled out of his Hurricane
I (P3534). Little was wounded in the leg and with burns. T.B.Little was on escort when he collided
with a Spitfire over the Channel
in his Hurricane II-b (Z5001)
on the 27th of August 1941, and
was posted M.I.A. aged 24. |
| Sgt Reginald Thomas Llewellyn
of No 213 Hurricane Squadron had
11 kills during the Battle of Britain. On the 15th of September
1940 he baled out of his Hurricane
I (P3113) and was severely wounded following combat with
a Bf 110 over Hawkhurst, at 15:00hrs.
He was awarded the D.F.M. and survived the
war. |

was killed on the 15th of October 1940 when his Spitfire

109 of JG 51 off the North Kent Coast at 09:00hrs. |
| P/O J.F.Lloyd of No 72 Squadron
was seriously wounded on the 18th of September 1940 while on patrol and he force-landed
his Spitfire I (P9368) at
10:30hrs near Dover. Lloyd had been in combat with a Bf
109. |

with No 85 Squadron and No 213 Squadron in Hurricane's during the Battle of Britain. He was slightly
wounded on the 24th of August 1940 by the Dover A.A. |

I (V6670) on the 11th of September 1940 near Romney, Kent at 16:20hrs. He had been in combat with
some He 111's and was hit by return
fire. |
| P/O Eric Stanley 'Sawn Off' Lock
(RAF No. 81642 ) was born in Bayston Hill near Shrewsbury, in 1920. He joined his father's farming and quarrying business on
leaving Prestfelde School. In 1939 he joined the R.A.F.V.R. and was called
up on the outbreak of the war. He was posted to No 41 Squadron in August
1940 flying Spitfires. His R.A.F
nickname came about naturally because of he was short in stature. Lock
was awarded the D.F.C. on the 1st of October 1940 and Bar to this on the
22nd of October 1940. His score was 16 + 1/2.
E.S.Lock
was K.I.A. on the 3rd of August 1941 in a low level attack on gun positions
at Calais with No 611 Squadron in a Spitfire
V(W3257).

Squadron were shot down and killed off Cherbourg by an Bf
109 of JG 27 on the 20th of July 1940 at 18:20hrs. They were flying escort in their Blenheim
I (L1300). |

Squadron crash landed his Hurricane
I (V6566) at West Malling after combat with a He
111 on the 15th of September 1940. The aircraft was later repaired.
Lofts survived when he force landed his Hurricane
I (V6878) again, near Tenterdern, Kent after combat with a Bf
109
on the 16th of October 1940 at 13:10hrs.
The aircraft was also repaired. |

Poland of No 303 Squadron was wounded and his Hurricane
I (P2903)
damaged in combat with a Bf
109 over Kent on the 15th of September 1940, at 12:45hrs. He attained the rank of Squadron Leader and his
score was 8 kills and 3 probable's with 1 probable shared. |

was shot down on the 25th of August 1940 at 01:30hrs near Beverly. His Hurricane
I (P3758) was brought down by British anti-aircraft fire. He baled out and was unhurt. |

I (P2831) safely on the 9th of September 1940 at 17:45hrs. He had been hit by return
fire from a Do 17 over the Thames Estuary. |

Squadron was wounded on the 18th of August 1940 at 14:00hrs in a Hurricane
I (PL1592). He was in combat with a Bf
109 near Sevenoaks in Kent and he was also shot at by the airfield defences
at Croydon. |
| F/Lt M.J.Louden of No 141
Squadron the pilot in a Defiant was
on convoy patrol on the 19th of July 1940. He crash landed at Hawkinge
and was wounded after combat with a Bf
109 of JG 51 at 12:45hrs. The gunner (E.Farnes)
baled out over the Channel and was rescued. The Defiant
(L7001) was a write off. |
| F/O A.D.J.Lovell from
No 41 Squadron was shot down by a Bf 109
of JG 51 while on patrol over Dover on the 28th of July 1940
at 14:35hrs in a Spitfire I (P9429).
He was wounded and crash landed at Hornchurch. On the 5th
of September 1940 at 15:30hrs Lovell baled out of his Spitfire
I (R6885) after combat over the Thames Estuary. Lovell claimed a damaged Bf
109 on the 1st of October 1940. The Bf
109 crashed near Shadoxhurst, Kent after the pilot baled
out at 16.50hrs. |
| S/L Terence Gunion 'Shovel' Lovell-Gregg
a New Zealander was the leader of No 87 Squadron. He was shot down by fighters
in a Hurricane (P3215) on the 15th
of August 1940 at 18:00hrs over Portland . He crashed
at Abbotsbury. He had not been with the Squadron very long, but he fitted in and was
missed. |

Squadron was shot down on the 7th of September 1940 at 15:30hrs. He baled out of his Hurricane
I (P3204) over Burnham. He was unhurt. |
