| P/O D.J.C.Pinckney of
No 603 Squadron was wounded on the 29th of August 1940 at 18:40hrs. His Spitfire
I (R6753) had been in combat with a Bf
109 near Dymchurch. He was slightly burned. |
| S/L Phillip C.Pinkham
of No 19 Squadron was a career officer in the R.A.F.which he joined in 1935. He served with No 17 Squadron
flying biplanes then he joined the Meteorological Flight. In the January of 1940 Pinkham
took command of the Air Fighting School at St Athan, training pilots to fly Hurricane's.On
the 10th of June 1940 he took over command of No 19 Squadron. In July he recieved the A.F.C.
for his flying training work. P.C.Pinkham was shot down and killed on the 5th of September
1940 at 10:15hrs. His Spitfire I (P9422)
was shot down by a Bf
109 over the Thames Estuary. His aircraft crashed at Birlink in Kent. |
F/O M.Pisarek from Poland
of No 303 Squadron baled out on the 7th of September 1940 at
17:05hrs. His Hurricane
I (R4173) was shot down by a Bf 109
over Loughton in Essex. |
| F/O Paul B.Pitcher
a Canadian
of No 1 (R.C.A.F.) Squadron claimed one victory during the Battle, also damaging several others.
He took command of the Squadron from December until March. Unusually, was discharged during
the war, on the 28th of November 1944, as a Wing Commander. |

No 73 Squadron was wounded on the 11th of October 1940 when his Hurricane
I (V6676) was shot down by a Bf 109
over Frindsbury, Kent at 11:10hrs. He baled out with slight burns. |

46 Squadron was wounded on the 4th of September 1940 at 13:15hrs. His Hurricane
I (P3052) had been attacked by fighters. He baled out near Stambridge badly burned and died of
his wounds on the 14th of September 1940. |

Head at 11:40hrs. His aircraft was badly damaged in the combat
and he belly landed it at West Malling. |
| F/Sgt A.H.D.'Bill' Pond
joined No 601 squadron on the 9th of June and Scored 1 kill. Due to hearing problems he ceased to fly operationally
in December 1940. Pond was Mentioned in Dispatches on the 29th of September
1940. |
| P/O W.A.Ponting of No
264 Squadron and his pilot (J.T.Jones)
were killed on the 24th of August 1940 at 12:40hrs off Ramsgate.
Their Defiant (L6966) was shot down
in combat with a
Ju 88 and a Bf 109's of JG 3. |
| P/O P.D.Pool of No 72 Squadron
was wounded on the 11th of October 1940 when his Spitfire
I (K9870) was shot down off Deal, Kent at 20:00hrs by a Bf
109. He baled out but was hurt. |
| P/O Jerzy Poplawski from
Poland flew Hurricane's with No 111 Squadron & No 229 Squadron's during the Battle of Britain.
His tally of kills was 5 confirmed and 2 damaged and he was later promoted to Squadron Leader. |

25 Squadron baled out safely on the 3rd of September 1940 at 11:15hrs. His Blenheim
I (L1512) was shot down by a Hurricane
over North Weald. The pilot P/O D.W.Hogg
was killed. |
| F/Lt George Powell-Sheddon
of No 242 Squadron was injured while on patrol. He baled out of his Hurricane
I (P2884) after being shot down by a Bf
109 while he was in combat with a Do 17
over the Channel on the 15th of September at 10:40hrs. The aircraft crashed
at Lidmore, in Sussex |
| F/L C.A.Pritchard an
Australian flew one of the six Blenheim's
on the 10th of May 1940 which attacked Rotterdam airfield in daylight
Only one Blenheim returned to base. Pritchard was shot down but managed to evade capture
and return to England. On the night of September 15th / 16th
a Ju 88 was caught in searchlights.
Pritchard was able to attack it and shoot it down.
Pritchard took command of No 600 Squadron in November. Pritchard scored another success at
night in May 1941. Pritchard was awarded the D.F.C. on
the 24th of June 1941. |
| P/O J.E.Proctor was a
pre-war pilot, he went to France with No 501 Squadron and claimed seven kills during this time. He was
posted to No 32 Squadron on the 10th of July 1940. P/O J.E.Proctor shot down 2 Bf
110's on the 20th and Bf 109's
on the 12th and the 24th of August. He was awarded the D.F.C. on
the 18th of March 1941, He received the Bar for the D.F.C. some later time. |

| P/O Lee L.Pyman of No 65
Squadron force landed his aircraft at Manston on the 14th of
August 1940. His aircraft was peppered
with bullet holes. He was shot down and killed in his Spitfire
I (K9915) on the 16th of August 1940 at 17:30hrs. He was over the Channel
near Deal, Kent. L.L.Pyman is buried at Calais
Southern France. |
