Just a few quick lines. The DC backups I have been given were small games recorded onto CDrs. Not much wrong with that, but I noticed some flaws in the graphics. This is because The data has to be read from the middle of the disk - this has a low 'linear velocity' as all you physisists will know. By using a dummy file to fill the inside of the disk the game files are recorded on the fast part of the disk, so the lovely graphics can load faster.
OK, That's the theory, here's a quick guide to creating the disk

NEW INFORMATION
ToMtOm has sent me a little DOS utility called DummyAdd (DA), this will add a dummy file to a CDRwin.bin file, no messing about. This saves all the messing about described below. Check the readme.txt file in the zip file for more info, here's a few tips:
1/ unzip da.exe to the folder you use for image files
2/ syntax:- da <cdrwin .bin file> <output .iso file>
e.g. - da segagt out
3/ use the .cue file created to burn the disk in CDRwin
4/ if CDRwin does not support your CDR use easyCD and load the .iso

OLD INFORMATION
Create the necessary size dummy file using the Dummy File Creator program
eg.
I created a file of about 390 meg to create a disc size of 690 meg.
Then use a program like Binchucker to extract an iso image from the bin file of your game. (or copy all files from the CD)
Make sure the game files and the dummy file are both in the same dir.
Open Nero choose new iso 9660 cd
Mode 1, Long filenames (just a precaution.
On write settings: Make sure finalise cd is checked.
Now drag and drop all ure game files and the dummy file into the Nero browser....THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT....
Highlight all except the dummy file and choose properties.....check the write priority to high.
If u have dirs in ure game files in go into these dirs and highlight all the files as well, these are high priority too.
Highlight the dummy file and set the write priority to low........now burn the cd.
I did this to Dead or Alive 2 and now the intro and music are in sync and the characters load much quicker.
