Angst
Pet Hates
- Had to get rid of the Clarehall/N32 gripe - they've fixed it!
- The Penalty Points system. I think it's a great idea. There've been fewer road deaths and accidents - brilliant news. Most people seem to be conscious of driving slower and taking more care - fantastic. The gripe? Cars from the North seem to have been left out of the loop - they still drive like maniacs. Case and point? Drive along the N1 any day of the week. Surely there should be a rule that covers ALL road users in Ireland, not just the Southern-registered cars.
- The Television Licence - who watches RTE? Okay, who watches RTE and firmly believes that they deserve a huge hike in the licence fee? Any takers? Didn't think so.
- The "so-called" Malahide Road Roundabout - "so-called" because it isn't even on the Malahide Road for God's sake! It's that death-trap circular thing that you go around coming from Malahide to Swords. Thankfully, they've now put traffic lights in, so it should be a bit safer - when they finally turn the lights on, that is! Ha, ha - Newsflash!!!. We now have a lovely new shopping centre called the "Pavillions" in Swords. So this particular roundabout is in worse shape then ever! The amount of traffic that is now stalled, stopped, or just stupid is amaaaaaaaazing!
- Bus Lanes - okay, if there is anyone out there that actually likes these things (aside from bus drivers, taxi drivers and hackney drivers), please send in a valid reason why - because there isn't one. Besides taking away a lane from us poor motorists, you have these jerks that try and push into your lane 'cos, bless 'em, they're in a rush - aren't we all?! Well, sorry, but road rages strikes and we never, ever let these people in. Tough! C'mon, they delay the rest of us with their bully-boy tactics. And once they get in in front of you, if they don't see a squad car, sure they're back out in the bus lane before you can blink! TOSSERS!!!
- Taxi Drivers - sorry lads, you have feck all sympathy since that strike you pulled off a while ago. And it turns out that we didn't really miss you anyway. Plus the fact that you people think you own the road - you don't!!! We pay the same amount of insurance and road tax dearies, and you're allowed use those blasted bus lanes.
- Subcontractors - y'know those lads that work for the big companies like eircom, ntl and such forth, laying down cables and piping in all weather? Well, they do a great job with that, but the mess they leave the roads and footpaths in is just incredible. A company have been laying pipes around the corner from work for months now. It's a residential area and the road is in a total heap - as for the footpaths! Clean up your act.
- Some Librarians... Recently, it has come to the attention of Library's in the Dublin area with internet access that young children are accessing porn and, naturally, there has been an outcry. Of course we agree that this is awful, but the point is that the internet is one of the best reference tools you can get. Ever heard of "Net Nanny" et al? There's loads of software that will block entrance to these unsavoury sites, so stop griping and install it. Protect our children and at the same time allow them to benefit from a world of wholesome knowledge on the net.
- The latest batch of "Live life to the power of Guinness" ads - I don't get it! Maybe I'm thick. Bring back the old 'Anticipation' ad - it was always good for a laugh.
- The Tennents beer mat ad - FRIGHTENING!!!
- Lawsuits - people who are only motivated by greed and who cannot, for some reason, take responsibility for their own actions suing others for their own gain. Of course there are genuine cases, but we're not talking about these ones here.
- Politicians - They promise you the sun, moon and stars, and when they get into power - NOTHING, absolutely nothing. If they're not in power, they gripe at the party that is, and when they finally get to rule, they don't do anything different anyway.
Shorts
Driver's who indicate as they're turning the corner - why bother?
People who park in disabled spaces that aren't disabled.
People who park in 'Mother & Baby' spaces and have no children with them - I've checked for car seats and noted the registration numbers!!!
People who complain about tasteless or violent movies / television programmes. Gotta remote control? If not, you definitely have an 'off' button. Read a book instead.
Smoking in non-smoking places - you're giving the rest of us smokers a bad name.
Sexism.
Racism.
Ageism.
Two-faced people.
Nosey people - not concerned, caring indiviudals, but NOSEY.
The latest thing that's really bugging us is someone changing the language settings on our mobile phones - not to French or Spanish or something we could try to make out - but Arabic! (No offence to anyone, but we really haven't got a clue about Arabic). By the way, the main offender is NEILL.
