Biography
Robert James Ritchie was born on January 17th, 1971. He hails from Romeo, Michigan in Detroit. He has two sisters, Carol and Jill, and a brother, Bill Jr. His son, Robert Ritchie Jr., was born on June 14, 1993, and is affectionately known as Junior and Junebug.
He earned the name, Kid Rock, when he was part of the Michigan breakdancing crew, The Furious Funkers. People used to watch him and say "Watch that white kid rock"

He cited the following as influences during an interview with "CD Now" - "I got into Johnny Cash and Hank (Williams) at home, caught the Tubes and Tom Petty and all the '70s stuff from my (older) sister. My parents used to have all these parties and play a lot of music that I'd hear, too. I'm really into classic rock, too. I love it. It's some of the best stuff ever made."
