Received top reports after leading and undefeated England A team last winter, not only because of his captaincy but of the way he conducted himself and his team. Opening batsman and off spinner and if his bowling can stand up to scrutiny at Test level, he could fill England's all-rounder hole.

County Debut in 1993, scored 1066 First Class runs the following season and capped in 1995. Selected for England U19 tours to India in 1992-3 and Sri Lanka in 1993-4.
