Notes:

1 Mika Pietila and 21 Joe Watkins played in nets.  The Panthers' starting offensive lines were Purves/Jinman/Cadotte, Allison/Wood/Nieckar, Clarke/Hadden/Elders.  The Panthers' starting defensive lines were Hussey/Charron, Paek/Taubert, Hussey/Thompson.  This was 44 Barry Nieckar's first game back after a 5 game suspension.

At 36.20 there was a scuffle in the Panthers crease as 27 Jonathan Delisle crashed in and came to a stop too close to 1 Mika Pietila's glove for his liking.  The netminder was seen to jab Delisle with his stick a number of times on the back of his legs.  Appeals were made from the Bees bench, but no penalty was given.

72 Lee Jinman's goal at 40.24 was controversial as it was felt that he had been a considerable distance offside when he received the puck.  Bees Coach Enio Sacilotto went beserk on the bench as the goal was allowed to stand and was spoken to by Referee Carson.

maybe that 5 games off did barry a favour, it looked like it renewed his enthusiasm for the game. every time he was on the ice something seemed to happen. mind you enio takes the prize for animation after what he thought were bad calls! the more the crowd shouted the worse he seemed to be.
mystery surrounds the continuing absence of the man in front of net on the powerplays, purves skated there once, realised and skated away. obviously a job nobody dare tackle!

great game last nite, totally dominating the Bees for long periods of the game (about 55mins of it imo)!!
a total team effort, if we play like that next sat, all of a sudden i feel more positive about the potential result!
As for Clarke, well his skating isn't great, but the guy at least trys his hardest & that's more than some of the Bees players did, Kirton & Rushton in particular look far worse than Clarke......
Oh & Enio better be tarting up his CV soon, as i think he might bee looking for a new job before November....

Great performance last night from the lads. But before we get carried away, let's see how we perform against Sheffield cos I haven't forgotten how dismal and undisciplined we were the oher weekend.

The weakness in the squad, in my humble opinion, is Clarke - he doesn't strike me as a talented player, he just seems to skate round looking for someone to nail. Do we need him?

On last night’s performance, at least, Barry Nieckar has my unreserved apologies following my comments in the off-season. That was undoubtedly the best game I’ve ever seen him play. I couldn’t work out why he got MOM versus Bracknell last time round but I would have given it to him last night. Why hasn’t he played like that more over the last couple of years? (or why haven’t coaches got him playing like that)?

There’s no wonder there wasn’t much trouble last night – by my reckoning (yes I am sad enough to bother looking) that line of Wood, Nieckar and Clarke has put up over well over 10,500 career pims between them! Clarke worries me though – on what I’ve seen I can’t work out how he’s scored a decent number of points in the East Coast League over the years. He can’t skate. Having said that the line as a whole played very well. It must be pretty intimidating when that line just keeps forechecking and cycling the puck and you just can’t clear your zone.

Now we need the same kind of performance week in week out. That doesn't mean I'm one one those who expects us to win every game but consistency seems to have been a major problem over the last couple of years. Next Saturday is the perfect opportunity for them to redeem themselves following that debacle in Sheffield.

From all accounts, Bracknell aren't the weakest team right now - that's the Scottish Eagles. I thought the Bees looked better than they did down at the Hive last Sunday - certainly where the defence was concerned... kept us out for the whole first period.

Mika Pietila may have had a shaky start to the season, but he certainly brought home the bacon last night - some lovely stops, and a very fast glove hand. Personal preference on my part, but I do like to see a netminder who plays the puck out rather one that covers up & kills the momentum. And Mika is the fastest I've ever seen at doing that - granted he gave us a couple of scary moments, but he (and the D) recovered well, I thought.

Do you think Cadotte was 'making a point' to Bracknell again? - he looked HUNGRY for it, even more so than usual. Gawds, but he's fast - and the partnership with Lee Jinman is, as Jono says, telepathic. I love it! Purves, Paek, Thompson (what a net-burster!), Elders (quiet but influential) - also very impressive.

Did Scott Allison look hungry to score or what? He really really wanted to score one for us on our own ice - maybe he's wanting to prove himself to the home crowd? There's always next Saturday, Scott.... there'll never be a better time for it! ;-)>

And the DJ with the record 'getting stuck'! ROTFLMAO!! That was beautiful! Now who's "stupid", Enio??

You have to feel sorry for Andy Carson though (on second thought, perhaps you don't! ;-)). Two teams in black & gold? - no wonder the poor lad got confused.... and no P.C.Drouin to bin for no reason whatsoever, plus Barry not giving him the slightest excuse for a penalty. Therapist for Carson, please!
;-)>
Actually, I thought Carson had a good game. The usual couple of howlers that you'll get from any ref, but neither team seemed inclined to goon it up and he just let them get on with it.

A good fast game, a total TEAM performance, and of course a very pleasant scoreline. More please!
;-)>

That was good, that was really good.
We dominated the whole game. Texpef said to me in the first interval 'If we score one the floodgates will open' and he wasn't wrong.
Jinman and Cadotte have a telepathic understanding, I hope to God that neither gets injured or suspended.
Barry, Scott Allison & Jimmy Paek were all sheer class tonight, all three showing moves and skills that I haven't seen for a while.
The defence looked really solid, and Mika had a good game, but I would have put Neickar, Wood, Jinman & Cadotte ahead of him for MOM.
All in all, a dominant showing against what is perhaps the weakest team in the ISL. Let's all hope it continues into next Saturday, and them up North are sent packing.

What a game! It was nice to see Barry score again. I dont't know what Adey's said to him but it's obviously worked. OK the goal against London was a bit of a fluke but the one he got tonight was pure class. Plus he seems to be enjoying his hockey this season.

Mika Pietla...what can you say about him? 32 shot shut out, Man of the Match...let's hope he can keep it up for the rest of the season.

Greg Hadden has picked up his game. He looks like he's having fun out there too. Goal and a couple of shots off the post. That wicked slap shot is back.

Overall the team performed extremely well and deserved the win. Credit to Bracknell though for pushing us but after the third goal their heads seemed to drop. The D was solid all night and helped Mika out when he needed it, clearing rebounds, moving traffic, etc.

Bring on next week!
