Notes:
Before the game the announcer welcomed a large contingent of Cardiff Devils supporters who were sat with the Knights fans (outnumbering them) and had come to cheer the eight ex-Devils who were playing for both teams in preference to attending the BNL Cardiff Devils team.
31 Trevor Robins and 31 Danny Lorenz started in nets. The Panthers' starting attacking lines were Drouin/Tait/Jinman, Nieckar/Savoie/Moria, Hadden/Poirier/Wallenberg. The Panthers' starting defensive lines were Maloney/Drolet, Norris/Evans, Pope/Carlsson. This game saw the debut of new signing 20 A.J. Kelham.
At 28.12 after the Knights' fourth goal, the Panthers called a time out.
At 32.26, 8 Trevor Roenick charged at a puck in the Panthers' crease and collided with netminder 31 Danny Lorenz. 8 Clayton Norris took exception to this and, it is said, crosschecked Roenick in the back of the head causing his face to hit the ice. Blood was left in no small amounts across the ice as Roenick made his way to the bench bleeding profusely from a cut on his forehead and Norris was thrown out of the game. There was then a stoppage as the zamboni had to be brought onto the ice to clear up the blood.
After the Knights fifth goal at 33.35, 31 Danny Lorenz was pulled and 30 Pasi Hakkinen made his playing debut in the Panthers' net.
For the third period the Panthers altered their lines. 44 Barry Nieckar was benched and 20 A.J. Kelham was played alongside 21 Ashley Tait and 19 Steve Moria. 16 Claude Savoie joined 72 Lee Jinman and 17 P.C. Drouin.
At 44.41 after the Panthers scored two goals in quick succession, the Knights called a time out.
The Knights' goal at 59.02 was scored after they had pulled their netminder.

Well, what can I say ? Me and Jono met up on the concourse after the 2nd period and we were both ready to go home. The Panthers were awful out there, Lorenz was all at sea and was pulled about two goals too late we felt, the Knights were outclassing us by leagues and Boniface was a bit dodgy but not to the extent where the result of the game was being affected.
What followed was frankly ludicrous. We got one goal back. The crowd started cheering. We got another one back. Crowd screaming. Knights time out to stem the haemorrage. Three more goals follow in six minutes, and we're in the lead !!! How did that happen ?
It was simply a different team that turned up to play the third. The line changes must have had quite an impact. Baz was noticeable by his absence, and the Tait/Moria/Kelham line looked great, as did the Drouin/Jinman/Savoie one. I've been saying for a while that Baz should be used as McSorley used to use Morrisette and Walker: 'Roleplayers' (daft term) who are there as a threat but don't actually play on regular lines. As much as we all love Baz, we now have nine out skaters who are better than him.
Kelham showed real pace and desire out there and his goal which was a volley of a rebound which looped up into the air was great. Wallenberg's all around the net and through Robins shot was the first time I've ever seen one of them work. Thought Robins was having a blinder, but got well rattled when the second and third goals went in in quick succession. Jinman MOM, no question.
Lorenz didn't have a good game and Hakkinen looked solid enough at the back and probably should have come on earlier. Danny's most telling moment was the goal where he simply lost where the puck was and stood looking over both his shoulders as it was passed between his feet.
Apparently Norris got thrown out for Crosschecking Roenick who was lying face down in our crease. I saw them down, but another Pantherfan said Norris had hit Roenick in the back of the head, knocking his head into the ice. The blood was everywhere from a forehead cut and the zamboni had to come on. Out of order by the sound of it. Reckon Clayton will get a ban.
Comedy Moment Of The Match: I was too depressed after the first two periods to notice any, but wasn't Ware's black eye a peach ? He looked like Bluto ! Guess the story about him being Paxton Schulte's bitch in Belfast is pretty true then.
Also, how classy was it that our announcer made a point of welcoming the 200 or so Cardiff fans who came to the game even though they were sat with the Knights fans ? It was quite funny seeing them applauding whenever any of the 8 ex-Devils on either team on the ice did anything of note. The Devils chant at the end was cool as well. Just hope these nomadic Devils fans are welcomed at any of the ISL stadiums they go to this year.

What a game that was!i'd loved to been a fly on the wall in that locker room during 2nd period, what a performance,i personally think if heads should be axed the management should first look at those players who are a screwing up our chances in those last few minutes of the game, being a man down last night at that point of the game cost us the game and a point!this is becoming a habit and as got to stop.Trevor Robins is as always on top form he just didnt know what hit him last night did he? great to see Pasi getting some ice-time and the new Kelham, please u guys lets have a no nonsence game on friday which i think by now any true panther fan cant wait for friday to come around!

Just been listening to Paul Adeys after the game interview on Radio Nottm. He says they have a responsabilty to the organisation, the fans and the city. To true! and that he needs the players who will play..if not there will be changes. My god he must have made that prity clear in between 2nd and 3rd period, because they came out a different team, maybe it was the line change or maybe he put some real good stuff in their tea!!! Whatever it was keep doing it to them, because if they play like the last period for the rest of the season we could start to win a few games. Thank God we have Jinman, he played so well. Also thought the crowd really performed well in the last period, I'm sure it gave the guys an uplift. Mind you there was not much to shout about in the 2nd. Those fans who were singing "All a load of rubbish" soon had the smirks wiped off your faces. Every Panther fan knows that we did not play well, I for one have never felt so defeated as I did in the 2nd, and from talking to loads of people they felt the same. But this is Ice Hockey folks, and whoosh it all changes, I was then on the biggest high since our greatest escape in Newcastle. I think that the message is getting through to the playes now. Play or Go...we will all have to wait and see.

Aarrrggghh.... no fingernails left after last night....
I didn't think that the first period was too bad - gorgeous wraparound goal by Wallenberg (on the PP too!) - and Robins made some horribly good saves (that glove save whilst doing the splits AND partly unsighted? - would ANY other goalie in the ISL be able to pull that one off?). What happened with London's goal (second was it?)?? - Lorenz seemed to get the puck caught in his skates, and everyone except for one London forward thought it had gone past him! A bit lacking in spark, maybe, in the first - but overall I wasn't too unhappy.
The second period? Don't think I really need to say much - awful, pathetic, shocking, where was the team?
The third period?? HERE WE RUDDY WELL GO!! Don't know if we'll ever know the full truth about what was said/done in the locker room in the second interval - but bl**dy hell, it worked! THAT is why I've been hopeful that this team would 'click'. And what a wonderfully-appropriate debut for AJ Kelham! - who said he was no good?? Just a pity about Wallenberg's stupid penalty near the end - cost us the win, no doubt.
Boniface, I thought, made some bizarre calls and non-calls
(against both teams) - overall I think it evened out mostly. For him, he
had a good game - IMHO.
Wasn't it great to have the noise back?
And to out-shoot an opposing team?
And my own personal two-part Comedy Moment of the Match
- first a linesman, then later Boniface doing perfect 'bunny-hops' to get
out of the way of the puck. Who says white men can't jump?? ;-))))
Roll on Friday & the Storm - hopefully, we'll see
more of what we did in last night's third.....

Definitely got me 12 quids woth tonight! Why can't we play like that every game -i.e. like we actually want to win? If we play like that more often then we won't be languishing near the foot of the table, and maybe we can challenge for some silverware. I did think those 2 silly penalties at the end cost us the win, but I never thought we'd comeback from 5-1 down so we're lucky I suppose.
Thought Jinman definitely deserved MOM- what a star he was tonight. Looks like Robins will always continue to be the bane of our existence- he misses nothing!! We could have had half a dozen more if he wasn't between the pipes tonight!
Lets hope we can see more performances like the one in the third eh?

As a frequent visitor but infrequent poster I would like to back up SROG re Norris on Sat night. His assualt on Roenick was one of the most blatant acts of thuggary I have witnessed in the last 13 years. Apart from that it was a stupid time to give up a powerplay. There is no way we can goon our way to the title so let start playing hockey. The third period showed we are capable of beating most teams so lets carry on from the first drop of the puck. We have the individuals lets hope we can become an effective team. Heres hoping the rest of the season is as good as the 3rd period!

With Bazza suffering a hand injury and Clayton thrown out for protecting our Goalie, we showed what we really are capable of. so when they are back stick with the line we played sat night + another line on bazza, Clayton & weber (when he returns) or another forward willing to double shift or even Paul adey if he feels up to it & we could actualy end up winning something this season. You never know. Great comeback, must be one of the greatest of all time in the modern era. Shame the boys couldn't hang on for the win. Think a draw was a fair result in the end as both teams played well.

I still can't believe what happened last night. I was
in a very bad mood after the 'feast' served by the Panthers in the first
two periods (I missed Carlssons goal due to moping around the concourse
wondering if it was really worth going back in!)
What really annoys me is that they can play like that
in the 3rd period yet were absolutely shocking in the first two. I really
do think that jobs were threatened in the 2nd interval, and I hope that
if perfomances sink to the level that they did last night, the threat is
carried out.
That said I thought Carlsson, Jinman & Kelham (when
he iced) were all excellent last night. I to agree that Moria's heart is
so obviously elsewhere and if he doesn't improve then he should be chopped.
Harsh I know but I want players playing who want to die for the Panthers.

Couple of answers to questions below: Baz is suffering a hand injury and Norris actually slammed Roenick's face into the ice four times for stomping on our n/m.

Well, last night’s third period was certainly a lot better than anything I’ve seen of late. I just hope that Paul Adey told ALL the players that their jobs were well and truly on the line after the first two periods of dross. It would be so good if we could play like we did in the third period a little more regularly instead of just seeing it every few weeks or so when the team feels like performing. I ain’t going to talk about the first two periods last night because frankly we were absolutely abysmal, enough said on the matter. It’s just a shame that it takes us until we fall 1-5 behind to actually come out and play good, enjoyable hockey. It’s just a shame that Patrick Wallenberg feels the need to have his stick head-high in the last two minutes of a game that almost certainly contributed to costing us a point. Lets hope that where we left off last night, we can carry on against Manchester on Friday because we need to get ourselves back above the Storm as we’re now bottom of the ISL (at least until Newcastle start fulfilling fixtures), surely that should act as an adequate spur for the team to rally themselves into action.
In my opinion, Nigel Boniface had a semi-decent game last night (I never thought I’d say that!) and called fair penalties on both teams. No one could argue the high-sticking call on Wallenberg that led to London equalising and I thought Boniface refereed his best game in Nottingham for a long time.
My final point about last nights game would have to be that our best period hockey this season was missed by no other than Barry Nieckar, coincidence or what?????? Draw your own conclusions people.

Well, can't add too much to what's been said already,
1st period ok-ish, then 20 minutes worth of the worst hockey I've ever
seen the Nottm Tigers could have played better & as more of a team
than Panthers did! Third period, WOW, don't know how but the REAL Nottingham
Panthers team came out & played one of the BEST 20 minutes of hockey
I've seen in a long time!
Just a thought tho', if you can motivate a team to play
as good as that in 1 period of hockey, how come it can't be done for the
other 2 periods????
And why would Baz be benched?? He did nothing wrong,
no dumb pen's from him last night, it was Clayton's turn for that dubious
honour.....
