Notes:
35 Pasi Hakkinen and 50 Nikals Warren played in nets. The Panthers starting forward lines were Norris/Weber/Nieckar, Savoie/Drouin/Jinman, Kelham/Poirier/Hadden. The Panthers starting defensive lines were Pope/Carlsson, Maloney/Evans and Pope/Drolet. Making his playing debut in Panthers colours was apprentice 20 Adam Radmall.
The face off was delayed as one of the Huddinge players broke the plexi glass with a shot during the warm up.
This game was littered with numerous squabbles as the Panthers complained of High Sticks and the young swedes looked eager to test their fighting skills against the veterans.
The 2+2 Roughing at 34.01 seemed somewhat harsh on 14 Frank Evans as 14 Fredrik Janevi went mental over something and was flailing about all over the shop trying to get at him while Evans meanwhile simply held him at arms length instead of opting to hit his would-be opponent.
At 54.19, there was a slight scuffle following 14 Frank Evans' Holding penalty and 44 Barry Nieckar appeared to casually skate up to one of the players who'd been arguing with Evans and elbowed him in the face. Nieckar received his marching orders and left in near silence. After his exit, the announcement of the game penalty was met with applause from the home crowd.

Just wanted to be the first to congratulate Adam Radmall on his first ever point for the Panthers tonight - as a former sponsor of Adam in the juniors, it makes me feel old , but very pleased.

Had a good laugh at the game. The first time I've ever heard the home crowd cheer the referees decision to throw Baz out and I wasn't confusing this with cheering him off the ice either as he'd already left and the cheer came when the penalty was announced and put on the scoreboard. I much prefer Clayton Norris as a forward too, although Jono went on to say he preferred Clayton Norris at Cardiff. Congrats to Adam Radmall on getting as assist on the last goal, also the goal which completed Randall Weber's hat trick which we'd all been rooting for him to do. A nice relaxing game last night - no pressure, etc. Nice to see Randall get a hat-trick (he was reallt enjoying himself), and I thought that our FINNISH goaltender, Pasi Hakkinen, had a good game.
The Swedes showed IMHO a good level of skill at passing & puck-handling, along with some decent speed. But they didn't have the strength to cope with the US/UK physical style - kept getting muscled off the puck. They also didn't have a great deal of teamwork - several of them were hogging the puck when they really should have passed (Ginger, Texpef, me etc kept yelling this at them - got quite funny after a while..).
On the less pleasant side of things - Bazza's elbow was way out of order (he'd been having a good game until then), and Norris was getting a bit... well, psycho - again! Those Swedish lads were getting right handy with their sticks though - and they need to watch those tempers....
Nice to see Paul Moran and Adam Radmall getting a few shifts - Adam even got an assist!

Moria went to play for Cardiff for a VERY GOOD REASON, to try and get last years team paid. Why not let him go when we have a meaningless friendly, Sacratini went, Thornton went, Matulik went... it wasn't just Moria, good to see people are unearthing more things to moan about!

I think those that didn’t go missed a good fun night out with really only 1 issue, Even I thought Barry as out of order with that elbow.
However points to note; it is quite likely that the Swede’s came here with the same plan as the Russians, to get some exposure to the more aggressive US style of hockey without flying all the way to the states.
Funniest bit was to see Evans holding one of the Swede’s at arms length obviously trying to avoid being hit whilst trying to not be too rough on him, The kid wasn’t listening and got so close to a classic Evans spanking… Or was it the sight of two Swede’s trying to check Norris and him just pushing through them like they weren’t there…
Best bit of the night was to see the players having fun rather than the usual grim faces…..

I too am a season ticket holder who went to last night's match, and enjoyed it. Why oh why did some of the Panthers persist in roughing up those kids for no apparent reason - Drolet kept throwing punches all night, and Nieckar's attack late in the game was absolutely disgraceful. In fact, when he was thrown out of the game, quite a few of the Panthers' fans were booing him. Reckon he's got a screw loose somewhere. Also what was that about at the final whistle with Moran? Stupid.
Although the game was a bit of a mismatch it was good to see the young Swedish players showing off their fantastic skating skills - and their powerplay was loads better than ours too!

As a ST holder who did go 2night & enjoyed the match (well worth £6 of anyone's money), i have to say that Barry is never going to win any awards for tact/diplomacy, he's probably set Anglo/Swedish relations back a good 10 years!! Yes I know, the Swede's prospects are going to face that sort of thing and possibly worse if they get to the NHL, but for gawd sake eh baz, there really was no need for it!! As someone said after the game, fair enuff if it was against Allison/Ware or whoever in a meaningful fully competitive game, then maybe you could allow that sort of thing as 'part of his job', but not against some skinny looking 17 y.o. who didn't do owt to deserve it. For me it kind of took the shine off of a good performance & win.......

Right........before anyone starts about Barry. Yes, wrong to try and plant his elbow in the young chap's face but - let's put this in context. Firstly he is doing his job, Huddinge are the equivalent of OHLers and many of them stood to make a name of themselves(don't be surprise if I tell you there were NHL scouts there tonight, many of whom are cynical at best of Scandivanian's toughness). Secondly how would everybody have liked it if in a friendly if we had lost a player through an injury. Thirdly the game justified why we need size and bit of umph. Speed and quickness isn't always the recipe. (Having said that the recipe Panthers always go for seems more Delia than Nigel, or Nigella for that matter !)
Anyway loved the game and particularly liked the way the heavyweight Norris, Neickar and Evans went after the prospects. I think they now know there is a long learning curve for tem on their way to the NHL. No suprise then that Buffalo have left Aslund in Sweden for another year.

Just thought i would add my two penneth on the Huddinge
game. Firstly Barry was a bit silly, nothing more nothing less, the lad
made a meal of it in my opinion. BUT overall i was dissapointed to see
alot of our normally calm players thinking they could act like goons because
they were only playing kids. Calle, Drolet, Jinman and Hadden all had a
go but by far the worst was Brent "Terminator" pope. On one occasion he
came out of the penalty box, skated to the other side clouted somebody
and went straight back to the box. I doubt the same "bravery" will be shown
on tuesday night. I thought Hakkinen played well, and Weber was excellent
(2nd goal was as good a finish as i've seen). Lastly it was good to see
AJ get a few shifts, looks good to me.
