Notes:
35 Pasi Hakkinen and 31 Rich Parent started in nets. The Panthers' starting forward lines were Drouin/Jinman/Wallenberg, Tait/Poirier/Savoie, Neickar/Moria/Norris. The Panthers' starting defensive lines were Drolet/Carlsson, Paek/Pope.
Both Captains, 32 Joel Poirier and 24 Terry Hollinger, exchanged flags before the start of the match. The Panthers wore their away shirts for this game and the Iserlohn Roosters rather oddly had the well known German phrase 'You'll never walk alone' on the front of their shirts for some reason ???
At 0.40, play stopped as the puck had disappeared. 7 Colin Beardsmore found it in his shorts moments later.
At 37.20, 72 Lee Jinman and 9 Sean Tallaire got into a bit of handbags with each other. They were stick fighting for half the length of the ice before the referee blew up. 17 P.C. Drouin stepped in to defend Jinman, but no punches were thrown. Tallaire and Jinman both received 2 minutes for Slashing and 2 minutes for Roughing.
At 39.04, 44 Barry Neickar had some aggro from 36 Torsten Fendt. Fendt drew an angry reaction from Neickar who appeared to crosscheck him in retaliation. On the delayed penalty, Neickar then chased Fendt to the bench and tried to spark a fight, but Fendt walked off and Neickar went to the bin for 2+2.
At 58.48, the Panthers called a time out and pulled their netminder. Unlike the previous game, they managed not to line up with seven men on the ice.

The ever-wonderful iceweb says that neither side had a shot on goal in the first period! Which is even more incredible when you consider Iserlohn are 1-0 up....

God, wasn't last night an anti-climax or what? I turned
up expecting a real full-blooded clash with the aim of claiming two points
for their respective leagues, I might as well not have bothered. We were
very dissapointed with the level of effort showed by our players, they
appeared to just 'cruise it' for long periods of the game, definately not
fair on the paying public IMO. I'm not happy as well with the level of
motivation within the squad and that's Adey's responsibility. It appears
some players are here simply for a sight-seeing tour of Britain. We never
had that problem with the British lads if you can remember that far back?
I'm going on Saturday with an open mind and I just hope there's a 200%
improvement on all fronts.

I thought tonight was meant to be about playing our damned
hardest to beat those German guys???? How wrong could I have been. What
a waste of time i'm afraid, we didn't start trying until there was three
minutes left and by that point it was a foregone conclusion! £10
to watch that load of rubbish, me thinks i've been fleeced once again by
the all singing, all dancing management of this once proud club.
The highlight of the game HAD to be the 'amazing' Barry
Nieckar (my arse) get flattened by a LEGAL mid-ice check from a Roosters
player who was at least 3 inches shorter in height than our 'wonderful'
#44. He's so great isn't he? I must of counted about five or six times
where he gave a colleague a REAL DUFF pass when it was easier to slide
one over with his eyes shut. He also gave possession away countless times
and his 2+2, why did the crowd boo the decision? Rowe was spot on, #44
got caught up in it and whoever he raised his elbows on skated away smiling!
D'ya want him Isohlen Roosters? What a bloody liabilty, oh he got an assist,
stop the world I say. What a waste of time tonight (even Storm got
a fr***ing draw with them). Oh and before you lot moan, Isolhean had two
of their best players scratched.

Well it just goes to show how different two people's perceptions of an ice hockey game can be!
I thoroughly enjoyed last night's match v Iserlohn. What a refreshing change to see some really nice fastflowing and open hockey rather than the Superleague's never ending and negative clutch & grab style. I sat with some friends on the front row of Block 15, on the half way line, with a perfect view of both benches - and can assure Pantherite that the Panthers were indeed taking the game very seriously, and their concentration on the game was 100% and, hey, they were enjoying themselves! Give the Germans some credit, they were a good team.
Well done to Pasi Hakkinen who had a fine game - a shame that this lad has not had more opportunities to play. Lee Jinman was awesome, also Patrik Wallenberg.
It was always going to be a small crowd last night, being a mid-week game which also happened to Valentine's Day. But I'm sure the vast majority of those that did attend enjoyed it as much as I did.

Sorry, Carole but I thought the game on the whole was
pretty dull thought neither team gave it their all however iserlohn did
"enough" to get them the points. Yes at times their passing did look good
but not for any sustainable length of time and we did come out flying but
as previously this season we gave up the ghost when we went a goal down.
Oh and how anyone can say jinman had a good game for him ???? u sure? he
made one i repeat one good run into the end zone then fluffed it the number
of times he gave the puck away last night because he didnt want to make
the passi lost count of. Some plusses however, was impressed with hakinen
he is so much better than kortesoja and i thought he was an equivalent,
but he was soooo much better. Also thought tait had a fine game giving
as much as he got. As for playing nieckar on a regular shift think most
agree this isnt such a great idea now is it. Finally at the start of the
season i thought with adey as coach we might suffer from some nieveity
in some games but i thought we wouldnt have a problem with fitness and
motivation i am now not sure even about these aspects of our team.

Well we lost 2-1, small crowd (1500ish imho), fairly good game, think we'd have won if we had a full team playing. Good to see AJ & Paul get a couple of shifts, both should have had more though. Iserlohn looked a pretty good team, but were there for the taking, Pasi had a very good game for us as did Lee Jinman, their 2nd goal was a real peach nice tic-tac-toe passing & then put the biscuit in the basket!

When was the last time you saw a running stick fight for 3/4 of the length of the ice ?
Jinman.. drop the gloves next time...
I personally thought that Tait shone as the brightest star of the team last night...
Given the freedom from clutch and grab he's more than
capable of playing in a German side.

The game started really well with some end to end stuff. Iserlohn were a fast skating side, but we were keeping right there with them. Then they scored and things seemed to get pretty scrappy. Iserlohn's second had us all cheering though - a double backpass to leave the defenders scattering in all directions and their guy netted it unharrassed by them. Jinman did do a great solo run early on that if he'd scored would have been the goal of the season. He should've dropped the gloves on the stick-fighting guy if he was that bothered as it did look ridiculous. Drouin seemed kinda lost out there, a real off night for him. Hakkinen did great, pulling off some really nice saves. Baz did some good work, but if he breaks forward he knows he's got to pass pretty quick as he's not fast or skillful enough to hold it up with defenders chasing him. Problem being that there was often no one up with him to pass to a lot of the time.
Great credit must be given to the two Roosters fans in the middle of Block 15 who had us in stitches with their chants of 'We can't hear you !' in answer to our Panthers chant and their exclaimation of OO-EE-OO-EE-OO ! when the Roosters scored which was a scream. They had the whole arena applauding them.
Comedy Moment Of The Night: Niffty Paek dispossessing
a Rooster on their blue line, suddenly realising he had no one anywhere
near him and no one inbetween him and goal. You could see him hesitating
as if he was mentally reading his job description of 'Stay at home defenseman'
and going 'I can't go in there ! Its the attack zone !', before legging
it and having a bang at goal. Well funny. In fact he got quite on the offensive
later on, although both him and Pope being caught behind the Roosters net
with our three forwards backpeddling madly as the play broke down was perhaps
a tad over-enthusiastic.
