Notes:

31 Danny Lorenz and 36 Brian Greer started in nets.  The Panthers' starting forward lines were Nieckar/Moria/Sjogren, Wallenberg/Hadden/Tait, Drouin/Jinman/Savoie.  The Panthers' starting defensive lines were Pope/Paek, Norris/Maloney, Drolet/Carlsson.  18 A.J. Kelham dressed for the Panthers but did not play.

At around 17.00, 72 Lee Jinman collided with netminder 36 Brian Greer as he rushed in on goal.  He landed on Greer and rolled over the top of him.  Both players were unhurt, but as the play switched to the other end, 2 Mark Matier made a beeline for Jinman and hit him behind the referee's back, knocking him down.  There was outcry from the home crowd, but Jinman was uninjured and no penalties were given.  At the next break in play, 44 Barry Nieckar had strong words with 14 Sam Ftorek who had got involved and also, rather hilariously, 15 Blake Knox who would have been ill-advised to try fighting that far above his weight.

At 31.25, the Bees appeared to put the puck in the net as it was deflected in off a forward's skate on the back post.  But Hanson was stood right on top of the play and washed it immediately, motioning that the puck had been illegally kicked in.

The Bees tally of 20 shots on goal in the second period raised more than a few eyebrows when it was announced.

At 51.06, 8 Clayton Norris and 12 Darren Hurley had a bit of a slap fight which resulted in them standing nose to nose to further discuss the matter.  Hurley skated away in the end with Norris laughing as usual.  Both men received 2 minutes for Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

At the end of the game the Panthers' Supporters' Club awards were given out.  Most Exciting Player went to 72 Lee Jinman and Player Of The Year went to 5 Patrik Wallenberg.

Well, I feel a bit better after last night. A 3-1 win over the Bees, but I still don't feel like we were playing in top gear and the spectre of having to win away at Ayr is still hanging over the proceedings.

Still, good to see Mr Wallenberg smashing in a goal at 100mph just like on Tuesday. Has he been the Panthers' best kept secret this season or what ? Moria had a great game too and while Baz played well, there were a few eyebrows raised when he got the MOM. The Drouin/Jinman line wasn't doing the usual 'my turn to take on the defence on my own' trick and there were some nice passing moves. We had two breaks of 2 on 1 and also 3 on 1, which is a good sign. The 3 on 1 was when Wallenberg went alone and buried it (and there'd have been some choice words if he'd missed given the two open players) and the other was Savoie and Jinman. Hands up who thought Savoie had totally muffed it ? What kind of dreadful sliced pass to send the puck dribbling behind the goal was that ??? I was right in the middle of calling him several interesting names when he scored from Jinman's deft dig out and pass from behind the goal.

We were pretty solid at the back, but Maloney still seems injured to me. Either that or Cadotte's pace was making him look sluggish, I'm not sure which. Carlsson's reluctance to shoot from point is still a worry and Drolet needs to be told not to bugger about in his own zone. Niffty Paek is just God though. Praise be !

Comedy Moment Of The Match: Pint size Blake Knox exchanging verbals with Baz. Fortunately for Knox there was a crowd of three people stood in between them. Actually I'm surprised Baz could see Knox over them.
