Notes:

31 Danny Lorenz and 35 David Trofimenkoff played in nets.  The Panthers' starting forward lines were Drouin/Jinman/Savoie, Hadden/Poirier/Wallenberg, Nieckar/Moria/Sjogren with 21 Ashley Tait switching with Nieckar and Savoie on some line changes.  The Panthers' starting defensive lines were Carlsson/Pope, Drolet/Norris.

At 25.50, 19 Mike Barrie went down with a leg injury and had to be treated on the ice.  No penalty was called at the time, but after Barrie was back on his feet, Referee Hanson held a discussion with his linesmen and then awarded Slashing against 19 Steve Moria.  Barrie was booed by the home crowd for the rest of the game as he rejoined the game immediately.

At 40.10, Linesman Craig went down injured next to the boards.  It appeared that 28 Vezio Sacratini had caught him in the face with his stick as he skated past.  Craig was able to continue after treatment.

At 42.54, the Knights hit the post.  At the next break in play, Hanson had words with the goal judge who had not put the light on.  Fortunately Hanson resisted the temptation to award a goal retrospectively and play continued.

At 50.23, the Panthers called a time out.  This followed some very scrappy play in which the Panthers were all over the shop and London had come close to scoring.  They were denied only by a series of stunning last ditch saves by 31 Danny Lorenz.

At 53.30, 19 Mike Barrie was completely taken out by his own netminder 35 David Trofimenkoff who seemed to duck as he careered into him and Barrie went head over heels into the rear of the net.  This caused much hilarity.

All I can say about last nights game and my projected eating of a chicken balti pie is 'bugger'!! Thanks a million Danny, now look what i've got to eat as a result of your shut-out! More seriously though, nice one regarding the shut-out (albeit you rode your luck on more than one occasion during the game), you've deserved one at home where you've put in some great performances this season.

As for the game, it wasn't particularly exciting to watch in the main and yes, I thought London were a slick outfit until they got to our blue-line where they just ran out of ideas (that's usually the Panthers speciality). Sad to see Robber suffering so much from injuries, i'm always pleased when he doesn't play against us because we usually end up winning, but for such a brilliant cageman, it's sad to see such talent struggle so badly with injury.

As for someone wanting to know about Tait fighting, yes he more than held his own. Admittedly it was a clash of the featherweights with him and 'Daddies Boy' Nate Leslie slugging it out. Ash caught him with a couple of semi-decent punches and managed to remove Leslie's helmet but that's all, although the fight lasted longer than I expected it to. Possibly the funniest part of it was it happened right in front of the London bench and it was amusing to see Leslie smiling at his Dad as he got to grips with Ash. He'll probably be looking for a raise in his pocket money now!

I thought we played well last night, though I was never happy with just a one goal lead and feared that London would sneak in a goal in the last period. To be honest I wasn't sure how interested London were in the game - they didn't look to me like they were giving it 100%.

People are saying the games aren't exciting any more....... I feel that is because we only have such a small league and the teams all know each other really well at this stage in the season. When players stand having a natter with their opponents, you know the season has gone flat! We desperately need some new teams next season.

Finally (having missed the game on Wednesday), a win to celebrate! To be honest although the game was far from a classic I did enjoy it. I thought our passing was mostly good(especially in the first) and the whole team looked more solid (even without our defensive rock Darren Maloney - hopefully back in the line up soon). Drolet had probably his best game IMO, Jinman and Hadden both worked hard, Sjogren is a joy to watch and Danny rode his luck to earn a good shut out. I went home pretty pleased all in all.

well tonight might not have been the most exciting game of the year but as far as results it was perfect.when we fight and get penalties you moan like bitches.when we play safe but win you bitch.so what do you want.i think the atmosphere doesnt help when the DJ didnt play any music for the 1st 7 mins of the game, and seems to have the enthusiasm of a tree.

Boy, was that a dull arsed game tonight or what???
I used all my efforts in trying to stay awake, I really do think that the team should be sponsored by pro-plus!!  Seriously two points is two points, and it's also great to get a shut out, but I have one question to ask. When was the last time that we saw a real edge of your seat thriller at the NIC?

I disagree with the what a dull game comments..

We went 1 goal ahead then did our best to go no further leaving the fans to worry about a single mistake on our part or one good move from London changing everything... That is a edge of the seat game..

The quality of the hockey wasnt great, but the game was quiet entertaining.

What with the netminder taking out one of his own players, the london guy tripping one of his own behind our net, Wallenburg checking Hanson and getting a very hard stare......

Not a great performance last night, but we got the points regardless. I'm not sure how London are managing to be so mediocre as I looked at their list of players and saw a load that I wanted on our side. Mind you if Thornton and Roenick had been on the ice I think the scoreline might have been different.

We're still not playing as a team though. The defining moment came on a powerplay where I watched first Drouin and then Jinman try to take on the Knights by themselves and the rest of the team seem to be spectating. There were odd flashes of some terrific passing moves, but more often players seemed to go for a killer high risk pass every time, a hopeful dump or a one-man charge.

But hey, it worked and Joel scored and we didn't take a Too Many Men call and I've never seen Ash in a fight in my life. What was that about ??? He didn't do much damage as Leslie was taking the smeg to his bench as he was all tied up, but good to see Ash standing up for himself nonetheless. Wasn't Baz's face a picture as he went to sit out Ash's two minuter in the bin and was patting him on the shoulder going 'Not bad ! But do it like this next time' ?

Comedy Moment Of The Match: What was Trofinamess trying to do to Mike Barrie ? Sending him head over heels into the back of the net. Hilarious.
