Notes:
31 Danny Lorenz and 21 Joe Watkins played in nets. The Panthers starting lines were Drouin/Jinman/Wallenberg, Sjogren/Hadden/Poirier, Tait/Moria/Savoie. The Panthers starting defensive lines were Norris/Drolet, Pope Carlsson.
The 2+2 High Sticks penalty on 19 Steve Moria at 4.21 resulted after he accidentally caught 2 Mark Matier with his stick causing a small cut on his chin.
At around 5.40 Referee Rowe had to delay a face off as it appeared the clock had got bored of counting down 19 Steve Moria's penalty and had gone blank. The remaining penalty time was restored and the game resumed.
At 8.54, the Bees put the puck in the back of the net but the goal was disallowed. A Bees slapshot had struck netminder 31 Danny Lorenz in the mask and he had been left in a stunned crouch with no idea where the puck had gone. It was actually lying to his right in front of the open net, where a Bees forward slotted it from. Rowe washed the goal out after a short deliberation in which Lorenz and the Bees 'scorer' pleaded their cases.
10 Brad Peddle's Illegal Use Of Equipment penalty at 18.59 resulted when his stick broke and he didn't drop it immediately as the rules state players must for safety reasons.
At 36.15, there was a goal mouth scramble in the Panthers crease. The puck was sitting an inch in front of the post and 8 Clayton Norris couldn't get his stick at it over the sprawled figure of the Panthers netminder, so he opted to push the net up off its moorings to either stop the play or move the post out of the way so he could swing his stick at the puck. Rowe penalised Norris for Delaying The Game.
At 58.49, the Bees called a time out and pulled their netminder.
The Bees goal at 58.55 was scored with their netminder pulled and an extra skater out.
At 59.43, the Panthers called a time out.

Well my score prediction of 4-1 was half right. Definitely a point lost. Its coming to something when you can't even rely on a three goal cushion to mean you've won the game. Credit to the Bees for coming back at us like they did, although their powerplay largely looks as awful as it did the last time I saw them. Ftorek's was an absolute bullet though.
Our shorthander from Tait to Savoie was great. Very sharp finishing and a good break to get in that position a man down in the first place.
Agree Rowe called it well except for the complete Hookfest which he largely ignored. Drouin seems to be getting more and more frustrated with these tactics and seems to stop skating to look imploring at the ref on a regular basis. Hads on the other hand keeps his legs going until its blatantly apparent he's being pulled down backwards, thus forcing Rowe to call it. That seems to be the way to go with these referees at the moment.
What was Pope doing checking Wallenberg on the boards for the puck in our zone late on ??? For God's sake, TALK TO EACH OTHER !
Joel's goal was fantastic. He battled his way through the Bees D and took the puck off them twice before rounding the net and forcing it in. Thought Joel had a great game as he hassled and tackled the Bees all night. Wallenberg, Tait and Moria did well too.
Danny Lorenz did well too, even if four goals did go past him. If it hadn't been for him, we'd have lost by a couple easily. But we're relying on him too much. The D sometimes seems to be leaving him to it and not picking forwards up quick enough.
I actually sighted Jinman and Wallenberg getting in front of the netminder though. I was amazed. It wasn't just a few isolated instances either. Hurrah !
Maybe we were a bit unlucky that the Bees scored within moments of pulling their netminder, but I'd already got that sinking feeling by then.
Baz barely iced at all and apparently wasn't injured. I've said for a while he shouldn't be on a regular line as that's not why we hired him. Maybe now we've got the numbers again, that's gonna be his role from now on.
Also the Bees allegedly had 20 shots on Lorenz in the second period. Is this a record ???
Comedy Moment Of The Night: The clock getting bored of
counting down Moria's penalty for High Sticks and eating it. The spirit

I always enjoy games against Bracknell - much prefer the fast, free-flowing game that we get from that kind of match-up to the lock-down grind from Ayr or Sheffield (for example). Of course, the trouble with games at that speed is that you get a fair number of unforced errors, but at least both teams were making them, and less than might have been expected.
We really should have won that one - but, as always, Bracknell were a very dangerous side - they have this habit of exploiting almost any opening given to them (and all teams give up such, let's be fair). Not often we see two goals scored from slapshots like that.... wonder if that puck hitting his mask might have affected Danny a bit more than first thought? (he did sit there stunned for several seconds, after all). Some scary moments around our goal, and the defence did a fine job - but we are REALLY missing Darren Maloney (and Jimmy's coming back.... ;-)))
No major complaints about Rowe - he called it evenly, although I really wish he'd have called some of the more blatant stick-holding and hooking offences....
How about that short-handed goal, though? Ashley holding onto that pass until just the right moment, and Claude Savoie tipping it in perfectly - beautiful, goal of the match to my mind......
A point lost rather than a point gained. Oh well, what's
done is done.

Well I came away from the Arena last night feeling pretty
depressed that we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. OK,
it was a draw but to me it felt like a defeat, to be 3-0 up and only manage
a measly one point.

I thought last night's game was a stormer...really glad I went, despite going on my own. 3-0 and I honestly thought we'd win it 5-0, maybe by a greater margin, but I thought Danny looked shaky even before he got hit in the face. Credit to the Bees mind, I thought they played their part in a great advertisment for the game of hockey, but I did feel sorry for our D-men mind...they were f**ked with 10 minutes remaining. Maloney and Paek can't get into the line-up fast enough for me. I agree with Jono re Drouin and Jinman---maybe they think they'll make a highlight reel or something? I rate both of them re their skills etc, but I wish they'd put more emphasis on their overall contribution to the TEAM, rather than trying to go coast to coast and score. Comedy moment for me was hearing some old geezer say "it's not like watching Detroit!" Have to agree with him on that point, but what annoyed me was he moaned all the way through the game and then declared when we were 3-0 and still had 28 minutes left to play, that the boys should shut up shop! Mmm, defend for more than a period...I thought we were the home team?

When you are 3-0 up you expect to win the game. But credit
to the bees, they came back well and played their part in what was a great
hockey match.
I think only having 4 D men for the last few games is
starting to take it's toll, so the arrival of Jimmy Paek and the return
of Darren Maloney should bring some relief for the tired back line.
Great short-handed goal last night, so much credit must
go to Tait for the way he set it up, brilliant awareness.
One last thing, why do PC & Lee Jinman seem to think
they can take on the whole opposition on their own?

I said after the Ayr game.. that we can't play 60 minutes without a lapse in concentration...
Last night just proved it again..
Shame really because it was an entertaining game... although we should have lost 8-4... not so much a point lost but a point gained.

Well wasn't that game annoying! 3 - 0 up & looking
in control & then we give 3 soft flippin' goals!!!
DEFINITELY a point dropped......
Any chance we can sign a replacement d-man for a certain
no' 4??? Not the best signing we've made this season.......
