The Samaria Gorge

This is an experience not be be missed if you enjoy walking / hiking. At 18kms in length it is the longest gorge in Europe beginning at the Omalos Plateau and finishing at the beach in Agia Roumeli. The narrowest part of the gorge is known as the 'Iron Gate' which is situated 5kms from Agia Roumeli. Here it is only 3.5 metres in width, with spectacular views down the dried out river bed in the summer.
