If you get fed up with surfing or like me last year, the family are
getting on your back whinging about you disappearing each day, there are some day trips on the
island worth checking out. Notice I said day trips, so when you get back you've just got enough
time to nip in the surf quickly lol. A few of them are listed below :-
The Camel Safari Based at Jandia in the south of the island, the trip includes a ride on a camel, a Canarian
lunch, a parrot show and a visit to the Zoo, with it's large variety of animals. A good day out
and keeps the kids amused.
Land of the Volcanoes This is a very interesting trip, which takes you to the nearby island of Lanzarote via the
ferry from Corralejo. The highlight of the day is a visit to the Timanfaya National Volcano Park,
where some of the experiments with water and hay will amaze you. This trip also takes you wine
tasting and finally you visit the Green Caves, with the tiny white crabs in the water there. This
is one cool trip.
Glass Bottom Boat to Lobos This trip takes you to the nearby island of Los Lobos. It only takes 15 minutes to get there
and the views through the bottom of the boat of the reefs and fish are pretty good. You stay on
Los Lobos for 2 hours (which is long enough as it's deserted, except for the odd surfer) before
returning to Corralejo.
Ferry to Playa Blanca The ferry sails from Corralejo to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote every 2 hours and vice versa.
Playa Blanca is the least developed resort on Lanzarote, but does have a good selection of shops
and restaurants. It is possible to get a connecting bus to Puerto Del Carmen (the main resort on
Lanzarote), but check out the times of the buses first not to miss the ferry back !!!
