NEWSLETTER ARCHIVES

DECEMBER 1999

Hello everyone and welcome to the FIRST EVER newsletter from FIONA'S FASHION DOLLS AT HOME   In this issue we will be announcing a BRAND NEW scene just released, and news of other scenes coming real soon. Each issue will also have a special feature on how to make the things you saw in some of the pictures. If you have any other questions about the scenes or props used please email me at fionasfashiondolls@tinyonline.co.uk. You will find all the props and accessories very easy to make, but very effective as you can see in our photos.

ARTICLE ONE - BRAND NEW SCENE - HOT OFF THE PRESS - COME AND SEE! A really lovely and cute Nativity scene featuring all twelve of our little ones. When the little ones see the big crib display in school, they want to make their own and do a Nativity Play for all their mums and dads. But it's only a couple of days before the Christmas holidays - will they finish it in time? If you like Kelly size dolls, then you will adore this scene. See if you can spot your favorite and check in the programme to see who's who! Complete with a subtle background music medley.

ARTICLE TWO - COMING REAL SOON!

Spend Christmas day with all the dolls.
From early hours on Christmas morn,
See little Shelly creep out of bed,
And open a present, before crack of dawn!

It's Christmas Day at seven o'clock
All are awake at the Barlow's home.
As they pick out their presents and open them up
See their joyous smiles when Shannon finds a...comb?!
(For her horse of course)

Eat Christmas Lunch with the Nixon four
It's turkey and stuffing and trimmings galore.
The Dale's spend time with the trio of Holmes,
Exchanging gifts, I wonder if there's some more...combs?!

The snow falls down from far above.
So it's sledging time for Tommy and friends!
Fun and frolics and a snowman too!
With Tommy and gang, the fun never ends!

With Christmas day near its close,
See Sally playing with her new pink ball,

The adults around all festive and glad,
A VERY VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!

ARTICLE THREE - HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN...NATIVITY SCENE

1. Tunics for all characters: All the tunics started as a rectangular piece of material, about 16cm by 10cm. Fold in half widthways, then fold lengthways. Make a little cut 1cm big. Open out and extend the hole by slitting 2cm down the back of the material. This should then be enough to fit comfortably over your Kelly size doll. Take about 12cm strip of thin ribbon/cord/string etc. to tie tightly round the waist, bunching up the material on the shoulders to give the impression of sleeves.

2. Angel's wings: are white pipe-cleaners (very cheap). Shape into a rough figure of 8, then interlace another pipe-cleaner to fill in some holes and give more support. Shape as required and tie on to the ribbon waist band round the tunic.

3. Angel's halos: are glittery pipe-cleaners (same price). Make a circle shape to fit your doll's head, then another circle slightly smaller 2cm above. Either cut or bend the surplus pipe-cleaner into the back of the tunic.

4. Shepherd's headdress: Just use scraps of suitable material, about 15cm by 10cm, mould round their head and use an elastic hair band to secure in place.

5. King's cloaks: Choose scraps of rich looking material, about 15cm by 8cm, and gather round the neck and secure at the front with a few simple stitches. For a good effect, taper the bottom edges of the cloak to give a regal look.

6. Kings headdresses: Again, scraps of material, about 12cm by 12cm, to hold in all the dolls long hair, then stitch on some lace or ribbon and with a few simple stitches secure into place.

7. The stable was a shoebox and corrugated cardboard to give a roof effect. Paint as you like. The manger was small cardboard box with slits cut out. The 'straw' was stuffing (for stuffing toys, not turkeys!) painted yellow.

Good luck making yours, email me with any problems.
