DESIGNING YOUR PAGE

is really a matter of choice for you. The first thing to decide is what your page will be about. Will it be about you, your family, your favourite band, your favourite TV program or all of these things. It can really be about more or less anything you like. Of course if you write about yourself and your family you probably won't get thousands of people queueing up to 'read all about it'. If you make a page about a pop-star on the other hand, you'll probably get lots of people 'surfing over' to your page for a read. Of course you could design your page to appeal mainly to your schoolfriends, so do you know any funny stories about your schoolteachers? (Not rude, of course, or you won't get any more stars for your homework!)

Here are some links to other kids' pages for you to click on and have a look at, so that you can get some ideas.

When you know what your subject will be you can find any pictures that might look good. See the section on adding pictures HERE so that you know what to look for.
Next you should sketch out, with a pencil and paper, a rough idea of what will go where on your page. Don't forget that your readers will be able to 'scroll down' the page by pressing the little downward pointing arrow at the bottom right of the screen, so you'll be able to get much more than one screen's worth of writing and pictures on your page. If you have too much information you can design two pages. You'll find out on the next web page how to link them together.
If you have an e-mail address, don't forget to include that somewhere, so that people who see your page can contact you about it if they want to. See the next section for guidance on how to make it (or anything else) a link that you can click. E-mail addresses that are links, open up whatever software is on the user's computer for e-mail, and fill in the 'To' address automatically.

Now you're ready to type, so click on 'Write It' below to find out how!
