Nathaniel Springford was a timber merchant owned the Green Man Public House at Oare. His ancestors were from Stanton St Bernard Wiltshire. He lived at Oare Wiltshire. His daughter married a yeoman farmer from Rainscombe Park Farm near Oare. Although the photograph is poor the grave can bearly be read as it is so worn. Nathaniel was obviously thrifty. A relatively wealthy man, he left instructions in his will that he wished to be decently buried but cautioned his family that he did not want undue expense to be devoted to his burial.
