This inn was run by John Springford who was probably born in Bath and is connected to Oakhill in Somerset, Bristol, Bath and Fisherton Anger. He was married to Eliza Arnold who was the daughter of a Bath innkeeper. John died at Ashwick Somerset in 1847 aged 49.
John Springford has descendants in New Zealand and Vancouver, Canada.
