This photograph was taken on 'Peace Day' 1919 at Upavon, Wiltshire. Alfred Earle Springbett is on the left and his brother Sydney is on the right. The "guy" in the middle is an effigy of the Kaiser which was apparently later burnt on the village bonfire!
It is said that "Earle" (Alfred Earle Springbett) drove the very first tank that ever went into battle during World War One.
This photograph was
provided by and shown with the kind permission of Mr David E
Springbett grandson
of Alfred Earle Springbett.
